In this episode, I want to share with you two essays I wrote. Both essays are admission essays for my application to start a Doctor of Ministry program at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, the same seminary where I earned my Master of Divinity. The first essay charts my professional growth since graduating from seminary and the second essay answers the question of what my specialization of choice is and what my goals are in starting a Doctor of Ministry program. I share this to give perspective to those who might not know much about the Independent Sacramental Movement and to share my story as I am living it; the story of one cog in the machine that keeps the Independent Sacramental Movement in motion. The episode title, "Do we need more Demons" is a play on words, as D.Min (or Doctor of Ministry) is sometimes jokingly referred to as "Demon" and how "Jesus cast out the "D.Mins."
In this episode, I discuss a recent trip to Reno, Nevada to conduct two ordinations, a consecration, and a confirmation. Additionally, the concept of "dark night of the soul" is discussed with some tips on how to combat this spiritual phenomenon.
In this episode, I explore the ordination of women and why is it that some jurisdictions within the Independent Sacramental Movement and the Roman Catholic Church choose to not ordain women.
In this episode, I look at the fourth characteristic of the Independent Sacramental Movement (within Christianity) which is Movement. I look at why the ISM is a movement and not just a collection of denominations.
In this episode, I look at the third characteristic of the Independent Sacramental Movement (within Christianity) which is Apostolic Succession.
In this episode, the second characteristic of the Independent Sacramental Movement is explored. That characteristic is Sacramental.
In this episode, I want to share with you some thoughts about The Independent Sacramental Movement. I want to look at some basics of the Independent Sacramental Movement. This will be especially important to those who have no idea what the Independent Sacramental Movement truly is, but for those who have been involved in the movement, my hope is that you will get some new insights to think about as you continue to experience and be a part of this Movement.
The movement has four important characteristics: Independent, Sacramental, Apostolic, and Diversity. In this episode, I will focus on the first characteristic.
The first characteristic is independence.
In this inaugural episode, I discuss how I came up with the podcast's name and also talk about not taking myself too seriously and how clergy within the Independent Sacramental Movement should do the same.
