Grandmaster WaXhira of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood teaches, “Laziness is the refusal to face reality as it is, and instead, settling for the comfortable assumptions that shield us from true growth. It is the unwillingness to dig deeper and seek out the true cause of our condition.”
Assumptions are a kind of mental laziness. Instead of exploring the truth of a matter or engaging deeply with life, we form opinions based on what we believe to be true, or based on superficial knowledge. These assumptions create a false sense of certainty and lead us to take no action, thereby paralyzing our spiritual and material progress.
The Danger of Assumptions
When we assume that things are the way they are because of external circumstances, or because "this is how life works," we stop seeking the deeper truth. Assumptions cause us to believe we already know all that we need to know, and we make decisions based on these beliefs. The danger here is that these assumptions often prevent us from seeing the full picture.
For instance, you might assume that your current job or situation is the best you can do, simply because you’ve been in it for years. But the truth is that if you engage with life, seek a higher purpose, and expand your perception, you might realize that a new path is waiting for you, one that you couldn’t see because your assumptions blinded you. Similarly, we often assume that we are limited by circumstances or that spiritual growth is a distant goal, when in fact, the key lies in taking active responsibility for our growth, moment by moment.
The Gospel of Thomas speaks to this truth in Saying 2, where Jesus states, “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will be troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will reign over the All.” This speaks to the act of questioning assumptions and seeking beyond what we already know. Only by actively seeking can we break free from assumptions and reach the deeper truths of existence.
The Initiate’s Path: Breaking Free from Assumptions
In the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood, the journey of an Initiate begins by shattering assumptions. The first degree, which is open to the public, encourages deep introspection and the practice of questioning everything. The Ocean — the first working tool of the Initiate — symbolizes the infinite consciousness of the universe. To connect with this vast source, the Initiate must first clear the mind of its assumptions.
The act of meditation and ritual practice within the Brotherhood helps the Initiate to move beyond the limiting beliefs and assumptions they may have carried into their spiritual path. Rituals are not only acts of external ceremonial importance; they are powerful tools that allow us to break through the layers of assumption that have been imposed on us by society, family, and even ourselves.
In Degree 1, we focus on self-awareness — not simply accepting the world as it appears but learning to see beyond appearances. In the Navigator and Captain degrees, the Compass and Blazing Star further guide us, allowing us to navigate beyond assumptions and reach a deeper truth.

We are told time and time again that the present moment is the only real moment, yet it seems so easy to slip into the distractions of the past and future. But this is where the true challenge and opportunity lie — to live fully in the now, to embrace this moment as the portal to higher consciousness.
As Grandmaster WaXhira of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood has often said, “Everything exists in the eternal now. To seek truth in time is to remain bound by illusion. Each of the Brotherhood's nine degrees offers a unique set of spiritual tools that guide us through the stages of awakening. Meditation is not just about sitting quietly; it’s a path to deeper awareness, spiritual growth, and peace. Through meditation, you learn to become present in the moment, free from distractions, and attuned to the subtle energies of life. It is the practice of stilling the mind, aligning the body, and connecting to the divine presence within.
As Grandmaster WaXhira of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood often teaches, “To meditate is to enter the sacred space of the present moment. In that stillness, we become one with the Divine, the Self, and the Universe. The first step in meditation is finding the right posture. Physical posture is essential for maintaining comfort and alignment during the practice. The most commonly used posture is the lotus position, where you sit cross-legged with your feet resting on your thighs. If this position is uncomfortable, you can sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. The key is to maintain an upright posture with a straight spine, ensuring that your body remains relaxed but alert. This posture helps to keep the energy flowing freely through your body, creating the right conditions for meditation.
Next, we move to the most crucial part of meditation: stilling the mind. Our minds are often filled with endless thoughts — worries about the past, anxieties about the future. But meditation teaches us to focus, and the simplest way to quiet the mind is by focusing on the breath. Breathe deeply and slowly, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Pay attention to the sensations of the breath entering and leaving your body. The more you focus on the breath, the more the mind becomes still, and the noise of thoughts fades into the background.
As you become more aware of your breath, the next step is to focus on the body sensations. Notice how your body feels as you sit in stillness. Pay attention to areas of tension, discomfort, or warmth. Simply observe these sensations without judgment. Feel how your body relaxes with each breath, and allow the stillness to permeate every part of you. Finally, to deepen your meditation and dissolve the sense of separation between yourself and the divine, you can chant a mantra. A mantra is a sacred word or phrase that you repeat silently to yourself during meditation. It could be a word like “Om,” “Peace,” or “I am,” or a phrase from spiritual teachings. The repetition of the mantra helps dissolve the ego, quiets the mind, and aligns you with the vibrational frequency of the universe. The mantra becomes a tool to focus the mind, keeping you anchored in the present moment and helping you move beyond the self.

For candidates seeking the higher degrees of the Brotherhood, travel is a requirement—not just as an opportunity for adventure, but as a spiritual tool that shapes the very foundation of tolerance, wisdom, and humility. Similarly, in the Torah, we are reminded that our journey is not just about our immediate surroundings, but the wider world and its inhabitants.“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be upon your heart. Most people don’t realize this, but Christianity was once a deeply mystical path. Before doctrines hardened into dogma, before temples became institutions, the earliest followers of Christ spoke of the Kingdom not as a future place but as a hidden reality within. Over time, something precious was lost — the inner dimension of spiritual transformation. Mysticism didn’t disappear from Earth, however. It flourished in Kabbalah among the Jews, in Sufism among Muslims, and in Vedantic and Tantric schools in the East. But in the West, especially in mainstream Christianity, this mystical current was buried — until voices like the Gospel of Thomas began to rise again from the sands of history. Grandmaster WaXhira and the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood teach that these lost teachings were never truly gone — only hidden, awaiting rediscovery by the inner seeker.
In the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus doesn’t speak in commandments or sermons. He speaks in riddles and revelations, saying, “The Kingdom is inside you and it is outside you... When you come to know yourselves... you will realize it is you who are the sons of the living Father.” This is not religion — this is remembrance. And this is the core of all mystical paths. Whether it’s the Sufi who spins to become nothing, or the Kabbalist who studies the Tree of Life to return to the Divine Source, or the yogi who dissolves ego through the mantra “I Am That” — the aim is always the same: to die to the false self and awaken to the eternal one. The Atlanteans knew this. The Egyptians knew it. And the early Christians knew it, too.
Imagine the Christ not as a distant figure nailed to a cross but as the eternal spark buried in every soul — what Grandmaster WaXhira calls the “Slain Master.” This Christos is the essence of Atlantis — the forgotten spiritual homeland within each of us. But like Atlantis, this essence seems to have sunk beneath the waves of the world. Every mystic across traditions urges us to remember, to resurrect this lost self. In the Upanishads, it says, “The Self is hidden in the heart of all beings.” The Zohar teaches, “The soul is a lamp of the Lord, lit from above.” And the Quran whispers, “God is closer to you than your jugular vein.”
Mysticism has never been about belief — it is about direct experience. You cannot outsource it to a priest, a guru, or a book. You must enter it yourself. You must become the observer, the witness, the stillness behind all form. This is why the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood teaches the Way of the Inner Voyage. When we focus our thoughts on the divine qualities of God—order, harmony, power, wisdom, love, life, truth, and light—we begin to tap into an infinite source of creative energy. These divine qualities are not just attributes of the Creator; they are inherent forces that can guide our lives to a higher order and purpose. As we align our thoughts with these divine principles, we open ourselves to the universal flow of life, unlocking results that go beyond the human realm and transcend ordinary experience.
God is Order, Harmony, Power, Wisdom, Love, Life, Truth, and Light
To think in alignment with God-like qualities is to think in accordance with the universal laws that govern existence. Each divine attribute represents a principle that is essential for creating a life of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. Let us explore each of these divine qualities:
Order: God is the ultimate organizer of the cosmos. Order is the foundation of all creation, ensuring that all things operate according to divine law. When our thoughts align with divine order, we find clarity, structure, and purpose in our lives, allowing us to manifest greater achievements.
Harmony: The divine embodies perfect harmony—the union of opposites, the balance between seemingly disparate forces. When we align our thoughts with harmony, we experience a sense of peace, balance, and integration. This harmony extends to our relationships, work, and all aspects of life.
Power: Divine power is the strength that transcends physical force—it is the ability to create, transform, and manifest from the heart of the universe. By aligning with divine power, we tap into a limitless energy that flows through us, empowering us to accomplish feats that are beyond human ability.
Wisdom: God’s wisdom is not limited to intellectual understanding but is the deep knowing of the truths of the universe. Divine wisdom brings insight and the ability to discern truth from illusion. By aligning our thoughts with divine wisdom, we unlock clarity, direction, and understanding that lead us to our highest potential.
Love: God is love, and love is the essence of life itself. Love is the energy that binds all things together, creating connection and unity. When we align our thoughts with divine love, we become vessels of compassion, understanding, and kindness, transforming the world around us.

In life, we often find ourselves caught in the waves of duality—good and bad, light and dark, self and other. These dualities seem real, but the 2nd Degree: The Dualistic Illusion teaches us that they are only temporary appearances, not the ultimate reality. Guided by the Wave, our second spiritual working tool in the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood, we are invited to see beyond these oppositions into the unity that underlies all existence. When we can master the illusion of duality, we begin to unlock the true harmony of the cosmos. This principle is not just spiritual wisdom; it is a key to living a life of peace, balance, and enlightenment.
The Illusion of DualityImagine a calm ocean that, at times, becomes turbulent, with waves rising and falling. In this imagery, the waves represent the fluctuations of our perceptions—the mind’s tendency to see things as separate and in opposition. The Wave teaches us that duality only exists on the surface; beneath it, there is an ocean of unity.
The mind, influenced by the senses, perceives the world as divided: success and failure, joy and sorrow, right and wrong. These are mental constructs—the waves that rise and fall with every thought. But the Book of Remembrance reveals: “All that we see as separate is but a shadow of the unity that binds us.” This wisdom helps us transcend dualistic thinking and embrace the higher truth—that everything is interconnected, everything is one.
The Wave: Our Working Tool for TranscendenceThe Wave, as our working tool in this degree, encourages us to transcend the fleeting fluctuations of the mind. It symbolizes the surface-level appearance of duality, reminding us that these oppositions do not define our true nature. Beyond the waves of thought lies an infinite ocean of oneness.
In scripture, we are reminded that the apparent separations in life are illusions. “I and the Father are one,” says Jesus (John 10:30). “Allah is closer to you than your jugular vein,” states the Qur’an (50:16). These truths affirm that beneath the appearance of duality, there is a deep, unbroken connection that unites all beings.
In the Zohar, it’s written, “In the beginning, there was only one, and it divided itself into many forms. All forms are one, all are one.” This echoes the Atlantean teachings—beyond the appearance of separate waves, there is only one ocean, one consciousness, one divine source. The Wave, in this sense, is a powerful tool for overcoming the perception of duality and embracing the unity that transcends it.
The Practice: Mastering the WaveHow can we overcome the illusion of duality and begin to see the unity in all things? The practice is twofold: observation and acceptance.
First, observation—we must learn to watch the waves of thought, emotion, and sensation without identifying with them. In meditation, mindfulness, or simply observing our daily experiences, we learn to notice when dualistic thinking arises. We notice the judgments, the comparisons, and the separations we draw between ourselves and others, between what we like and what we dislike.
Second, acceptance—instead of resisting duality, we must learn to accept it as part of the greater flow. Just as waves come and go on the ocean’s surface, the rise and fall of opposites is a natural part of life. However, as we embrace the truth that duality is only an appearance, we begin to experience the underlying unity.

The Forgotten Ocean
Before you were born, before the stars appeared, before form and sound and thought — there was stillness. Infinite stillness.That stillness was not empty. It was aware. It was full — full of itself, full of presence, full of knowing.
And from that boundless awareness, everything that exists was born.
This is the Ocean — the Infinite Consciousness that breathes through you, speaks through you, and experiences itself through every act of being.
The tragedy of Atlantis — the sinking of that great civilization — is not the loss of land. It is the forgetting of this truth.When Consciousness began to identify with matter, the light of remembrance faded.Humanity began to mistake the ripples for the ocean — the temporary for the eternal, the outer for the inner.
Every soul that awakens is a fragment of Atlantis rising again from the deep.
You Are the Ocean, Not the Wave
Stand at the shore of your own being.Watch the waves — thoughts, emotions, desires, fears — rise and fall, rise and fall.
Each wave believes it is separate, yet every wave is made of the same ocean.Every thought is made of the same consciousness.
The Initiate’s first realization is this:
“I am not my thoughts. I am that which is aware of them.”
The Ocean is not disturbed by the waves.In the same way, your true Self is never disturbed by the movements of the mind.
The outer world moves in chaos because the inner world has forgotten its stillness.When you remember the Ocean within, storms lose their power. You become unmoved, yet deeply alive.
As the Upanishads declare:
“As rivers flow into the sea and lose their names and forms, so the wise, freed from name and form, attain the Supreme Being.”
The Sinking of Atlantis — The Fall of Awareness
Many have wondered what caused the fall of Atlantis.Was it pride? Was it misuse of power? Was it divine punishment?
The Brotherhood teaches that Atlantis sank because Consciousness fell asleep.When humanity turned outward and away from the Source, the waters of awareness closed over the island of Light.
But what sinks can rise again.And every Initiate who remembers their true nature lifts Atlantis once more.
Atlantis is the symbol of your own Consciousness.When you forget who you are — Atlantis sinks.When you remember — Atlantis rises.
This is resurrection.This is the first act of awakening.
The Science of Stillness
The mind is a restless sea. It loves movement, sound, thought, analysis, noise.But beneath this surface lies the infinite stillness of the Ocean.To touch it, you must be still — deeply, deliberately still.
Meditation is not about emptying the mind; it is about remembering the Ocean.You are not trying to stop thoughts. You are realizing that you are not the thinker.
In the Book of Remembrance 1:4–6, it is written:
“He who listens to the still waters will hear the voice of eternity.He who fears the silence will drown in the noise of men.Be as the calm sea beneath the storm, and the heavens will reveal their reflection in you.”

“Whatever is Dispelled by Light Never Existed.”

In life, the only thing standing between us and the life we desire is often our own belief system. The truth is, our beliefs shape our reality—whether we realize it or not. If we believe we are capable of greatness, that belief becomes the foundation upon which we build. But if we doubt our potential, if we create mental barriers that tell us we are unworthy or incapable, those self-imposed limitations block the blessings that are already waiting for us. As the famous quote goes, "Know the truth, and the truth shall set you free." Once we realize that the only true limitations are the ones we place on ourselves, the door to our blessings swings open wide.
Jesus once said, “If you believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” This powerful statement emphasizes the profound truth that belief is the key to unlocking the impossible. If you truly believe, there is no obstacle too great, no dream too far out of reach. Your belief will move mountains. The Koran echoes this wisdom, stating, “Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” This underscores the idea that transformation starts from within. To change your life, you must first change what you believe about yourself and your capabilities. The Talmud also offers a reminder, “Who is rich? He who is content with what he has.” Wealth, prosperity, and abundance are not external conditions; they are internal states of being. When we believe we have enough, we experience enough.
Too often, however, we create limitations in our lives through doubt and fear. These limitations are not real; they are simply beliefs that we have accepted, whether consciously or unconsciously. Fear of failure, fear of judgment, and fear of the unknown all create walls that prevent us from moving forward. The teachings of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood emphasize that you are not the limitations you perceive. These limitations are based on false beliefs about yourself and the world. Once you recognize this, you can begin to dismantle them and allow your true potential to flourish.
In the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood, the concept of the “Kingdom of Heaven” is taught differently than many traditional views. It is not a distant place to be reached after death, but rather a state of mind, a state of being, that is available to us here and now. Just as Jesus said, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven,” the key to entering the Kingdom of Heaven is a childlike belief. Children do not question their ability to achieve or to receive—they believe with pure, unshaken faith. The Brotherhood teaches that when you let go of adult doubts, fears, and conditioning, you return to a place of pure belief. This is where true abundance resides.
Grandmaster WaXhira, Founder of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood, shares this powerful insight: “Spend 90% of your time sharpening the axe of your belief and the rest on chopping the tree.” This teaching emphasizes the importance of focusing on belief above all else. Without a strong belief system, all other efforts will be ineffective. It’s like trying to chop down a tree with a dull axe—no matter how much effort you put in, you won’t make much progress. But when you take the time to sharpen your belief, to remove doubt and replace it with unwavering confidence, everything else falls into place. Your actions, efforts, and manifestations become aligned with your true potential.
