Being nice is not enough to undo racism. Can people with white privilege develop the self-awareness to practice anti-racism effectively?
Today, we attempt to tackle this question with Cynthia’s friend, Robin Schlenger, a therapist, clinical supervisor and anti-racist consultant, coach, and organizer.
Robin’s journey began after attending an “Undoing Racism” workshop by The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB). She has since continued to develop her own anti-racist lens, while offering supervision and coaching to other clinicians, clients and organizations who want to foster anti-oppressive practices in their own lives and work.
In this episode, they discuss:
Robin’s anti-racism work with individuals and organizations
Working through the shame & guilt that inevitably shows up
Good intentions vs. consequences and how to constantly challenge messages we’ve been given our whole lives
