The mainstream media love to talk about “misinformation” - and yet they don’t recognise what it is when they see it. Misinformation is a distortion of the truth to promote a particular narrative. Unfortunately it has been weaponised against the church. How has that happened, and what can we do about it?

In the next of our series looking at the insights of Os Guinness, we look at ‘pluralisation’: how the church and Christianity has become one option amongst many. How has this happened, what effect has it had on the church and the state, and what we do about it?

In the third part of this series looking at Os Guinness’ book The Gravedigger Files, we look at privatisation: as the world became divided up into the ‘public’ and ‘private’ spheres, Christianity became relegated to the private sphere. How did this happen, what effect has it had, and what can we do about it?
I apologise if you have any problems with the audio. My microphone wasn’t plugged in properly and was causing a buzzing noise which I didn’t realise until editing afterwards. I have tried to eliminate the buzz but it might still sound a bit strange!

In the second part of this series looking at Os Guinness’ book The Gravedigger Files, we see how the church was infected with secularisation. But how does it work, and where did it come from?

Over the last few years, we’ve seen the problems in the church. How have those problems come about? This is a problem which has been going on for some time now. Os Guinness wrote a book back in the 1980s called “The Gravedigger File” - how the modern church was subverted. His insights are still relevant 40 years on. In this series we are going to work through the book to see what we can learn.

This week’s podcast is a bit of a pic’n’mix: a reflection from holiday about the importance of place; how Israel is the epitome of the problems in the West; and why civic religion is important even if people don’t believe.

In the context of what happened in Southport and the response to it (protests, rioting, and much talk about the “far-right”) - is there any way forward for us as a society? In this podcast we look at a few questions: (1) Is there a way forward? (2) Do we want ‘Zero Islam’? (3) What can we do? (4) Is it right for Christians to engage in violence?

Kamala Harris loves to talk about what can be — “unburdened by what has been.” This explains the way that progressives often think about progress - anything new is seen as good. At the same time, conservatives / Christians can often fall into the opposite trap: anything ‘traditional’ is good. How can we, as Christians, think about progress?

Over the last few years we have seen populist movements rising up across Europe and in America. Yet, in the UK, there has been very little. Why should this be the case? Is there anything unique to Britain which means that people are not engaged?

Why have political leaders and church leaders sold out? In this podcast we look at C.S. Lewis’ insightful piece “The Inner Ring” about how human nature can put loyalty to our tribe above loyalty to God and the truth.
