Sacred Synergy

Badir Awe is a filmmaker, producer, entrepreneur, and the founder of Awesome Productions, Ltd. He founded Awesome Productions in 2014, after finally embracing his calling as an artist. Since then, the company has produced countless commercial and client-driven videos, dozens of events, and a slate of independent films—delivering unforgettable stories and creative excellence from the heart of the Cayman Islands.

We cover a number of topics, from Badir’s journey into filmmaking, life in Cayman, Teilhard de Chardin, Bitcoin, faith and beyond. One of the things that struck me most from our conversation was Badir sharing about the emergence of the artist within himself. I’m a firm believer that we, as humans, are called to be co-creators in a process of creative transformation.

Davis, PhD is an American process philosopher, theologian, and scholar of the cosmos.  He is research and academic director for the Center for Process Studies where he researches, writes, teaches, and organizes conferences on various aspects of process-relational thought. An advocate of metaphysics and meaning in a hospitable universe, he approaches philosophy as the endeavor to systematically think through what reality must be like because we are a part of it.

He is author, editor, and co-editor of nearly a dozen books including Mind, Value, and Cosmos: On the Relational Nature of Ultimacy (2020); Process Cosmology: New Integrations in Science and Philosophy (2022); Metaphysics of Exo-Life: Toward a Constructive Whiteheadian Cosmotheology (2023); and most recently, Whitehead's Universe: A Prismatic Introduction (2026).

Robert Nicastro, PhD, is the Executive Director of the Center for Christogenesis and is a theologian, teacher, and writer whose research explores the convergence of religion, science, and artificial intelligence. His work focuses on how emerging technologies are reshaping human identity, planetary consciousness, and the future of religious thought. His doctoral dissertation, The Future as Sole Support: Metaphysics, Hyperphysics, and the Theology of Teilhard de Chardin, offers a reinterpretation of Teilhard’s cosmic vision as a compelling metaphysical framework for addressing the complex challenges of the twenty-first century.

Robert and I discuss how evolutionary theology had an impact on his vocation and how young theologians are living in a moment of tension between tradition and the future of faith and organized religion. Be sure to consider joining Robert, myself, and others from the Teilhardian communities this November of 2026 for the Center for Christogenesis' 10th Anniversary Conference.

Joan grew up in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and her Mennonite upbringing created a heart for the world. She and her husband and three children lived in Indonesia for 13 years. Upon returning to the United States Joan taught English as a foreign language to adults in her Lancaster County, Pennsylvania community. Currently, Joan is exploring new avenues of faith and volunteering at Lancaster city’s welcome desk for refugees and immigrants. In addition to enjoying biking with her husband, she adores her three adult children and loves spending time with her four grandchildren. She is who connected me with Brian McLaren and John Keane, of earlier episodes. We discuss her work with BioSpiritual Focusing and evolutionary spirituality.

Angela Manno is an award-winning artist based in Scotland. She is a graduate of Bard College and studied art at the San Francisco Art Institute, Parsons School of Design, and l’Ecole des Arts in Lacoste through Sarah Lawrence College, France. She trained with master iconographer Vladislav Andrejev in the ancient liturgical art of Byzantine-Russian iconography.

A three-time grant recipient from the Xerox Corporation, Manno’s art has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions including the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C, the Smithsonian Institution, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and other museums around the world.

In 1988, Manno was commissioned by NASA to commemorate the U.S. return to space flight with the launch of Discovery, the first after the Challenger accident. She is the only female visual artist selected for this honor. Other artists to capture the novelty of space travel for the space agency include Norman Rockwell, Robert Rauschenberg, and James Wyeth. Her artwork for this assignment has toured throughout the United States and is part of the permanent NASA space art collection at the Kennedy Space Center.

Manno’s major solo exhibition, Conscious Evolution: The World At One, toured internationally and was seen by more than a quarter of a million people. With the support of private and corporate sponsors—including actor Tom Hanks, AXA Space, and Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia—the artwork featured in the exhibition became part of the permanent fine art collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum.

In May 2022, Manno was commissioned by the Vatican Dicastery on Integral Human Development to create an audio-visual program to open Laudato Si’ Week 2022, the seven-year anniversary of Pope Francis’ groundbreaking encyclical. The program, Responding to the Cry of the Earth, featured images from her series Contemporary Icons of Endangered Species and appeared on computer screens around the world as part of the global event No More Biodiversity Collapse: Rebalancing Social Systems with Nature.

Manno’s artwork has been noted in numerous publications, including NPR, Hyperallergic, National Wildlife Magazine, TNational Catholic Reporter, The Progressive, Sojourners, ART News, Treehugger, Smithsonian Online Magazine, Kosmos and a nine-page spread in The Artful Mind, the premier art magazine of the Berkshires. Her plein air landscapes are featured in the French documentary film Voyage au Pays des Lavandes (Journey to Lavender Country). Her art is also featured in two coffee table books, Visions of Space and In the Stream of Stars: The Soviet American Space Art Book, and on the cover of the forthcoming volume, Animal Dignity.

Manno’s current series, Contemporary Icons of Threatened and Endangered Species, applies her iconographic training to a contemporary exploration of the environmental crisis and biodiversity collapse.

Ernie Tamminga is a trained Spiritual Director and holds a PhD in Cross-Cultural Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he studied for five years with Raimon Panikkar. His dissertation focused on Teilhard’s notion of a “Privileged Axis” of evolution. During the 1970s he was a member of the board of “The Phenomenon of Man Project,” which offered presentations and retreats centered on Teilhard’s vision.

Ernie calls himself a “planet empath” whose heart has long been broken by the degradation we are inflicting on our Home Planet and all her living beings. He shares Raimon Panikkar’s frequently stated hope, “I’m holding out for a mutation.” Ernie also had a career in the technology industry and has taught university-level courses in World Religions and in Computer Science. (One of his business cards identifies him as a “Consulting Multitasker.”)
