This profound understanding and suffering by Christ serve as the foundation for the believer's justification and freedom from condemnation. We ought to reflect on this perfect sacrifice during the Lord's Supper, recognizing the immense cost paid for our redemption.

The doctrine of propitiation has in recent history been rejected, redefined, and repudiated by theologians and ministers who cannot abide the notion of a God who has wrath toward sin that must be appeased, or satisfied. This hasn't affected only preaching, because we see many main line denominations that have gone so far as to remove from their hymnody any references to the blood of Christ. A bloodless gospel is not the gospel!

We look at two more blessings of our deliverance: The spoiling of our enemies and the provision of our God for the wilderness.

Cain brought of the fruit of the ground. Abel brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof, and the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering. Why was the one received and the other refused? Why did God reason with Cain, and comfort him, before ever a hand was raised?
