After almost two decades of being active with his own habit and then 15 years in mainstream recovery Hank knew something wasn’t quite right. When he finally figured it out Hank wrote “You’ve been lied to… the truth about mainstream alcohol and addiction drug treatment programs and the secrets on how to get past the problem for good”.

In his book he covers the very dated mainstream drug and alcohol treatment solutions still used today and the lies we’ve been fed about them for almost a century. But more importantly the current data, research and solutions available to help people understand and get themselves and those they love beyond their problems for good.

As a subject matter expert for the law enforcement and military communities at the special operations level Hank utilizes these same advanced teaching techniques to gain immediate results within his book and live events.

Robert Whitaker is the author of four books: Mad in America, The Mapmaker's Wife, On the Laps of Gods and Anatomy of an Epidemic. His newspaper and magazine articles on the mentally ill and the pharmaceutical industry have garnered several national awards, including a George Polk Award for medical writing and a National Association of Science Writers Award for best magazine article. A series he cowrote for the Boston Globe on the abuse of mental patients in research settings was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1998.

After 4 months being gone from AA I have felt a mutitude of feelings; Anger, Depressed, Sad, Embarassed. But I am moving on even though I have had a few moments here and there of feeling like AA robeed me of many years. I hid in AA as a Youth. Eventually I grew out of hiding. But AA had it's clutches on me for many years.
