In this 20th podcast episode of season 2, Jenny interviews Korey Burris. Korey is now 46 years old with two sons and survived a disfiguring suicide attempt at the age of 17. After many years in and out of recovery, he became a certified clinical Christian counselor & chaplain offering resources and support to anyone facing their own struggles. One of the resources he mentions is Soul Savage Ministries in Tennessee, which is a recovery program for those who desire assistance in breaking free from the bondages of addiction and life-controlling issues. They are a nonprofit organization, and currently have facilities for adult men who can stay for up to one year for free & only need to find a way there.
In his interview with Jenny, Korey shares, “I understand what it feels like to give up… one thing I’d really like to tell everybody, though, is that forgiveness is real. Forgive yourself… because we fight ourselves more than anybody else in this world a whole lot. God forgives you we’ve got to forgive ourselves, too. Don’t isolate yourself. The worst possible place you can be is isolation… don’t voluntarily put yourself in the worst place you can possibly put yourself. Reach out and get help.“
