His novel Asamay won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 1975, solidifying his legacy in Indian literature. One of Kar's unique contributions to Bengali literature was his creation of memorable characters like Kinkar Kishore Ray, or Kikira, a retired magician who, along with his two assistants, solved mysteries.
