Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the House of Bread. He is the Bread of Life and the Bread of the Presence, Immanuel. We take the fulfillment of His promise with us when we take communion, sitting at the table with Him.
Mary bore the hope of the world in her womb through the Holy Spirit. Though she questioned how it could be possible, she did not question whether God's power could fulfill His promise. God's given promises are promises to believe.

The church in Sardis had a slumbering spirit. A slumbering spirit is deliriously aware of its need, but lacks discernment, is ignorant of God's presence, and remains satisfied with its own results. It is not watchful, does not persevere, and does not anticipate the coming Lord with faithfulness.
Slumbering spirits promote their reputation in the world while neglecting their representation of Christ.
