The Wake Up Hour kicks off with discussion of a crazy World Series. It's exceeded expectations so far, and it's possible that Game 5 was one of the greatest World Series games of all time. Travis is in and there's discussion of it being safe to travel while being black in Russia. Some Blues talk as well, and then we find out that Paul Manafort might be headed to the pokey.
Episode 5 of the Game Time Drive Time podcast takes on the Blues' Saturday night showdown with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Discussion of Silent Jay McClement, Finnish goaltenders, and what to do with Vince Dunn. Make sure you follow @stlouisgametime, @gtbradlee, and @jmjones!
Joined live at The Lou by our good friend Ken Bone (@kenbone18)! Ken is amused by how low tech radio remotes actually are. Travis is skeptical of the release of the JFK documents and is concerned about his conspiracy brain. Ken is a believer in the Jordan/gambling conspiracy theory. #GainesGuarantees is happening, even though it may not actually make anyone any money. Chris and Travis are unhappy with the #FairOrFoul and #MorningMelee topics so they call an audible. St. Louis didn't make the betting odds for Amazon, but it should have. Stranger Things Season 2 is out today, and Ken hasn't seen it but Chris and Travis are stoked. The World Series has been great and it's crazy how often firsts continue to happen in baseball. Gaines and Ken are going to pull off some Lady and the Tramp stuff. If Ken got a hall pass, he would shoot the shot with Emma Watson. Ken and Gaines agree on JJ Watt, who may be throwing out the first pitch tonight.
The show is LIVE on the road from The Lou Eats and Drinks! The Cardinals hired Mike Maddux to be their new pitching coach, and it seems like more training wheels for Matheny. Everyone loves fried chicken except for Gaines. Gaines says Matheny is Michael Scott - bad manager, good results. Gaines thinks Mo is setting Matheny up to fail and the coaching staff isn't good business. Shooting bows and arrows is fun, and we're joined by Martin Rucker (@RuckerSouthSide) to break it down. Travis still thinks Mizzou can make a bowl game and he is not correct.
Jeff and Travis are in for the Wake Up Hour and they break down exotic meats, fast food, Whale Wars, and the careers of Hollywood's elite. Truly an illuminating conversation that might illuminate some things that they didn't intend to.
Mark Normand (@marknorm) joins the show to talk comedy and his shows at Helium this weekend. Kyrie Irving thinks the old floor was actually the old floor and that's not probably a real thing. Bob McNair said some questionable stuff and it remains bothersome. The guys are excited for a fun weekend and Fair or Foul closes the show as always.
We kick off the 9 o'clock hour with some Kennedy talk and then Mike Lee calls in. Kevin Sorbo makes religious movies now. David Stern wants the NBA to relax their marijuana policy. Travis wants to know how baseball and hockey players don't get tested. The legalization in St. Louis seems like it's not going to be a thing that really happens. Joe Girardi isn't going back to the Yankees. Travis and Jeff are going to make a new Chinatown. Fair or Foul closes the show as always.
The Gateway Powder Coating Powder Hour kicks off! We’re giving away lots of stuff if you review us on iTunes, so do it. Phil Ivey may or may not have been cheated out of a bunch of money by a London casino. A bad name is enough of a reason to swipe left on dating apps. There are two Jeff Burtons. Herman Cain isn't invited to the cook out anymore. The Germans are slow playing us with seat warmers. Benjamin Hochman (@hochman) joins us courtesy of Vess!
The Matthew Ehrenreich 7 o’clock hour kicks off with Chris, Travis, and Jeff breaking down game two of the World Series. Marwin Gonzalez pronounces his name wrong. Is the roof going to be open in Houston? Beavis and Butthead is an interesting generational gap. Who's the best baseball player whose brother was still better? Prince Fielder was really great for a while. Mo Vaughn made a bunch of money, but less than we remember. Joined by Brandon Lang (@realbrandonlang) to talk handicapping! Or, really, mostly the Lakers.
Jeff is in for the Wake Up Hour to talk about all of the dingers in the World Series last night. 8 total HR, 5 in extra innings, and it's silly. Blues won too! A nice lengthy Hockey Bob call, and then Travis comes in. Lots of talk of streaming services. Wiz talk too! We love John Wall. John WAL?
