Saint Misbehavin'

Stay in bed this week as we bring you the life of Blessed Alpaïs of Cudot, a nice young lady afflicted for…reasons by god or possibly the devil or possibly just bad luck. Despite being bedridden and stinky she manages to get a lot done. From advising queens to being the church’s best shakedown artist she proves that you don’t have to go anywhere to get somewhere in this life. Plus, Anna is on the road (or at least the phone) to wellness and Matthew apologizes to yet another nation.

This episode Anna and Matthew become pilgrims in their own town as we discuss the very Oxford based St Fiedeswide. (Full disclosure: This episode has a lot of very specific talk about Oxford and the surrounding area so consider yourself warned). We get into her eye for design, her dozens of lady “friends”, and her questionable attitude towards cat calling but we never settle on a pronunciation for Frideswide.  Plus, Anna donates her body to science and Matthew gets a sign…to the head.

This episode it’s the one and only Saint Francis of Assisi (Ol' Franky Aces to his friends). He may have been a great saint but he was a terrible businessman, soldier, and son. Hoo boy, is Saint Sigismund this our worst “Saint” yet? Well, he was a husband who didn’t remember his wife’s name, a father who threw his son down a well (also bad for the community), and a king who stole some monks robes to hide out after losing a battle. Not to mention what his dad did! So yeah, this one might be a new low for saints but a new high for comedy.
