How do we respond to suffering?

Jesus doesn’t promise a life without suffering. He shows us how to carry our crosses, with patience, grace, prayer, and trust in God.

We can avoid our crosses, become angry with God, or choose to embrace them and follow Christ. Through the cross comes resurrection and glory.

In this homily, we reflect on the persistent faith of the Canaanite woman in the Gospel and what her story teaches us about prayer, waiting, and trusting God’s timing.

Like the Canaanite woman, we are called to keep praying, keep trusting, and remain open to God’s plan. And when He works a miracle in our lives, it is never just for us, it becomes a witness of faith for others.

This homily reminds us that we are not meant to face life’s storms alone. When we seek the Lord in the quiet, reach out for help, and trust Him, Christ reaches down and reminds us: you are worth saving.

What are we truly searching for? In this weekend’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us through the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl of great value that the Kingdom of God is worth everything. Like Solomon, we are invited to seek the wisdom to recognize God’s presence and follow His voice. May we let go of what holds us back and discover the treasure that is found in holding onto God.
