In Philippians 1:27, the apostle Paul admonishes the church to be faithful to advance The Gospel. In chapter 2:1-11 he encouraging them to live with the attitude of Christ Jesus. In chapter 2:12-18 the apostle calls them to action. They are to be like stars shining in the universe as they hold forth the word of life. Today’s Christian is no different! It is our responsibility individually and corporately to advance The Gospel with the attitude of Jesus Christ putting our faith into action.

Remember who you are - a Christ Follower. Remember who you aren’t - a child of darkness. Remember what you are to do - live as children of light. Remember what you are engaged in - a spiritual battle. Remember your wardrobe and weapons - The Armor of God, The Word of God, Prayer. Remember your work - service.

Like the Israelites coming out of Egypt -  we will face times in our faith journey when we will be tempted “to turn back and give up”.  Today’s message offers some simple steps to consider when these times come: remember God’s promises, remember the power of God, repent of unbelief, refocus on the Lord and ready yourself for the next step in God’s story. Down through the ages God has allowed his people to go through difficult times - no one was exempt. Abraham, Josef, David, Jeremiah, Hosea, Job and the apostles all faced similar situations.
