Today we explore the parable of the sower found in the three synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark & Luke. We are reading from Matth. 13 (ESV).
We dig into Jesus, the Son of Man as the sower, the seed as the Word, and how Jesus lovingly and graciously sowed the seed of the gospel for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God on earth as in heaven.
4 types of soil are identified in the parables: the path, rocky ground, thorny soil, and good soil.
Our human hearts can be so fickle, just as the believers gathered to welcome Jesus as their King " Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" as recorded in Matt. 21:9 we, too, can find ourselves rejecting the living, active word of God and all it's sanctifying, edifying, empowering, enlightening goodness because it doesn't fit well with our agenda, aspirations, or attitudes of the day.
God is gracious and knows this about the believers of the Old Testament, the Israelites, and tells them, "And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26 This is TRUE of us today. Jesus is in the business of healing the hurts & hangups and working the soil of our tender hearts- ask, and you will receive.
