Too much energy is spent trying to be right rather than being genuine. I’d prefer to be friends with someone who is wrong but real than someone who’s right but fake. A sincere person, however, requires an understanding of who he is.

This is where I believe God comes into play. They can never understand who they are without God. Their relationship to God is what forms a genuine being.

I believe there isn’t enough discourse about truth and philosophy and there is too much emphasis on opinions in the US. This brings about a society of dumb and incompetent idea-warriors defending false beliefs.

Competence breeds confidence. There are things we must do otherwise they spill over into other aspects of our life. This spilling over usually indicates a misunderstanding of what we truly want as well as incompetence of that skill (like diet, relationships, or career).

I don’t think there’s a way to transcend suffering unless you numb pleasure as well. If we cannot escape our environment, we must be content with our suffering. Therefore, not inducing unnecessary suffering by insisting escape and being at peace with our present circumstance.

This podcast ends up in a strange place lol. There must be accountability for people who try to force change out of you. I use force specifically because it is change without consent. Though to be fair, I have to be better about understanding people’s emotional bandwidth and what they can handle appropriately.

Some people are hanging on to their beliefs by a thread and an obvious sign is an obsessive need to convince others. The quote below reveals how philosophy is a “holy” belief system due to it’s emphasis on truth. Pursuing truth comes humility for being wrong and courage to take the risks in being authentic.
