Samrœður Conversations episodes

  • Skáldskapr: Fear is a reaction, Courage is a decision.
In this episode, we’ll talk about the contrast when considering our options in facing life’s challenges, we ultimately have two choices. We can allow fear to flood our decision processes, and succumb to the paralyzation that comes with that, or we can stand up, lean our mental shoulder into that concern.

  • Skáldskapr: Does skin color really make a difference?
This episode looks at the attempt by a select uneducated few to capture the rich cultural heritage created by the early Scandinavian peoples to represent a different narrative than that which was truly lived. They have attempted to use the runes in much the same way as the early monotheistic church mangled the legends of the Old Norse to exploit the general population’s misunderstanding of the mystical powers within the natural world.

  • Skáldskapr: Path to Coexistence. Odinn by many names.
Today we look at the path to coexistence that has eluded the mainstream, organized monotheistic religion throughout their existence. When we lift the veil of secrecy that the main practices have always maintained and look at organized religions throughout the world, we will begin to see many similarities emerge. At the risk of condemning anyone, I must point out that it is only a select few that are less innocent in their endeavor to enforce their choices on others. The idea that the monotheistic churches refer to their deity as God, and have developed many names for it. I am further convinced that the practice of referring to the deity came down to individual tastes with a bit of conditional programming thrown in for good measure. Let us seek that knowledge and wisdom that we may understand.

  • Skáldskapr: Appropriation versus Embracing ancient culture
Throughout the internet I see many posts about appropriating an ancestral culture, and regardless of the underpinnings of that culture, they attempt to make it their own. In some cases, they simply don’t want the ordinary, in other cases they don’t take the time to really learn the nuances of an individual culture. However, in many cases those individuals attempt to apply the culture of these older societies into the modern day world, with questionable results. Most will “play the role” on the weekends, by overwhelming social media outlets with images of their dress, and behaviors.

  • Skáldskapr: She is min dag
Today’s discussion is for the men, and boys, within our group. No offense to the ladies, but this week I’d like to apply some of my ancestral understandings to the situation I hear from time to time when providing counsel to my friends. I apologize for excluding anyone, however, I feel that I need to speak to a certain group with today’s message.

  • Skáldskapr: The failings of “religious” thinking.
The primary reason I’ve decided to teach the ways of my ancestors to others is the negative influence that the monotheistic churches have had on the psychology of the average person. The guilt/shame cycle used by these “churches” have traversed hundreds of generations and have led to the psychologic damage of more persons than any other single factor. It is for this reason that any who have come to me asking for any type of guidance, I have given it without remorse or fear of misunderstanding, as I have no need, nor any necessity, to promote the message of hate and segregation supported by these “church” organisations.

  • Skáldskapr: Be yourself, you really are enough.
Today, I’d like to speak about the wonder that you are. From a biological perspective you are a combination of your ancestry. Skills, and genetic codes passed through thousands of generations, altered by environmental factors that your ancestors endured to bring you to a place where Urðr determines the length of your life.

  • Skáldskapr: Fear, the enemy of peace.
Today, I’d like to talk about fear. Not the watered down, modern-day snowflake definition of “fear of not being accepted”, or “not being a part of the in crowd.” But fear of life and limb. Fear of having a sword enter your leg just above the kneecap, and exit your body from your arse. Fear of being trampled in close-in combat, where it’s all you can do to move your arms far enough to deliver a death blow to the adversary, before he does the same to you, kind of fear. Many people confuse the two, yet I’m here to tell you, they are very different. Most people will never know the second type of fear, although many of my breathen from combat deployments will.

  • Skáldskapr: Why not believe in yourself?
In every-day conversation with anyone, they can tell you which acts that are considered evil, or bad, based on what monotheism has enforced throughout the history of the world. The inter-generational, intrinsic value judgement of other’s actions has defined monotheism from its inception. Essentially judging others based on some preconceived notion of right and wrong. When considering the multitude of splits in all forms on monotheism to accommodate some new generation thoughts, I am convinced it was the opinion of a limited few that has established these values in which has been passed from generation to generation.

  • What is Forn Sidr?
Throughout my lifetime I have exhaustively searched for a family heritage, as well as my spiritual home. It wasn’t until I began to do some in-depth genealogy that my mind, my heart, and my soul, began to realize what I’ve searched for my whole life. I’ve searched for any connection to a birthright heritage. I grew up with my mom, dad, and a younger brother. We traveled throughout the country, starting on the northern, east coast, through the Deep South, arriving in the Southwest. Although rarely we met some of my mom’s siblings, my fathers family remained elusive, even after his death after I left the Marine Corps. Within the last year, I began to perform some amateur genealogy, for a doctorate thesis I’m preparing, and discovered what I have been searching for my whole life without knowing what it was. My heritage. My ancestors. My ancestors that led me into northern Denmark for a little over five hundred years.
