This 35-minute film is a united call for a new economy, delivered by those who have committed their lives to working for systemic change.
A film by Local Futures and Cyrus Sutton.
We live in a time of multiple crises, from climate chaos, poverty, and war to skyrocketing costs of living. It can seem overwhelming – until we realise that we have the power to change things.
‘Closer to Home’ brings together an extraordinary array of thinkers, writers, and activists from every continent to make a simple but revolutionary argument: by reducing the scale of the economy, we can not only stop the rush towards social and ecological breakdown, but restore damaged ecosystems and increase our own personal well-being.
It’s a message of hope that the world cannot afford to ignore.

If you have your car stolen and have to buy a new one it's good for GDP. ✅ If water is so polluted we have to buy it in bottles it's good for GDP. ✅ If we get cancer: great for GDP! ✅ If we plant a garden, eat healthy food and stay healthy that's BAD for GDP. ❌ 😠 Visit Local Futures.
I played my first proper game of cricket yesterday for a few years, despite only having one arm (tennis elbow in main arm) and one eye (stye). What’s kept me from playing for most of the last 24 years is the one leg but fortunately that held out so I didn’t go full Nelson! I thought I had managed to run their best* batter out with this piece of fielding yesterday but the umpire gave it not out, saying it was extremely close and probably required a third umpire review.
Opened the batting too but after a couple of nice boundaries I was caught for 10, hitting the ball straight to the man at point.
Wish I could have bowled (my main skill) but throwing and bowling are impossible with the arm at the mo.
*He scored 146!
A few days after this intriguing find we came across some more sinister descending caterpillars ... these ones appear to have killed the trees as well!

It must be Descension Day! 🦋 I almost walked straight in to these 36 thin threads hanging from a tree, each with tens of caterpillars making their journey from the trees to the ground. A little cameo from Ted who was being really patient. 🐕
The good folk at Paccari sent me some of their chocolate to sample. This video is me sampling it!
Paccari topped Ethical Consumer’s rankings of over 100 varieties of chocolate from the UK, scoring 88 out of 100, awarding them Ethical Consumer Best Buy status. For context Green & Blacks Organic scored just 8!
Here's a basic list of what makes them ethical: Vegan | Organic | Fair Trade | Direct Trade | B-Corp | Support Local Farmers & Communities | Soy Free | Palm Oil Free | Gluten Free | GMO Free | Plastic Free (compostable packaging) | Carbon Neutral | Tree Planting.
It's really fine chocolate of high quality, which is reflected in the amount of International Chocolate Awards they’ve gained.
There's a high cacao content and the use of select natural ingredients makes it some of the healthiest chocolate around.
All in all not only are they the most ethical chocolate you can find, they are some of the most tasty and healthy as well!
There's a 15% discount code on my website for Paccari: https://ethicalrevolution.co.uk/paccari-chocolate-review/
Ivan Toney in? 13 out? And who is that at number 10?! 👀
...I had a little bit of fun playing #Spurs' Squad Selector for next season. Potentially 7 in this summer. Squad of 25. Only a £9m net spend. Improved home grown balance.
What do you reckon?
