Sam's Vids

The World Meteorogical Organization (WMO) today released the ‘State of the Climate’ report covering last year, 2023. They don’t have a presence within the #Fediverse yet so I’ve taken it upon myself to publish it here on their behalf. Please share.

The State of the Global #Climate 2023 report shows that records were once again broken, and in some cases smashed, for #greenhousegas levels, surface temperatures, ocean heat and acidification, sea level rise, Antarctic sea ice cover and glacier retreat.

#Heatwaves, #floods, #droughts, #wildfires and rapidly intensifying tropical #cyclones caused misery and mayhem, upending every-day life for millions and inflicting many billions of dollars in economic losses.

The #WMO report confirmed that 2023 was the warmest year on record, with the global average near-surface temperature at 1.45 °Celsius (with a margin of uncertainty of ± 0.12 °C) above the pre-industrial baseline. It was the warmest ten-year period on record.

Back for its ninth year, the #GreatBritishSpringClean is the #UK’s biggest mass-action #environmental campaign. 🧹

I've joined @KeepBritainTidy's #BigBagChallenge by pledging to pick up as much litter as I can from 15-31 March. 🚮

Will you join me as one of the UK's #LitterHeroes and pledge to pick up a bag too? 🦸 PLEDGE HERE: https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean/pledge-to-pick

In this video I highlight how much litter gets washed up in the countryside from flooding. Ted gives me a hand in clearing some of it up! #GBSpringClean

No longer hanging out with the other deer. Maybe it's too scary now the young bucks in the other clan are getting playful and wanting to practice their fighting skills! (See https://spectra.video/w/xjpXb3a1Vm4VTNhQU9Q9vd)

Hare movements in the last few weeks. At one point there is a deer lying down looking on (clip dated 9th March, 05.43am).

Sightings of our fabulous (three and) four-legged furry fox friends in the last few weeks. The poor three-legged one gets caught by some bramble at one point!

The latest deer footage from my trail cam includes some young stags play-fighting and a deer laying down observing a hare scamper past.

For International Women's Day 2024 I celebrate some of my mum's achievements as she closes in on retirement...
