Lalith Vasantha, the leader of the planned criminal gang, was shot dead by the police special task force.

He is facing various criminal charges, including six murders, police said.

Lalith Vasantha succumbed to his injuries while being admitted to the Negombo Hospital.

Following the inquest into the death of Seeduwa Magistrate, an autopsy will be conducted on the deceased.
