1943 பொதுத் தேர்தலைத் தொடர்ந்த அடுத்த வருடத்திற்குள் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட கட்சி ஆஸ்திரேலிய Liberal கட்சி

Liberal கட்சி உருவாகுவதற்கு முன்னோடியாகவிருந்த Sir Robert Menzies தான், இதுவரை ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் பிரதமராக அதி கூடியநாட்கள் இருந்தவர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

எதிர்வரும் தேர்தலில் Liberal கட்சி கூட்டணியிலுள்ள Coalition கட்சி ஆட்சிக்கு வரும் என்றும் Liberal கட்சியின் தலைவர் Tony Abbott பிரதமராகுவதற்கான சாத்தியக்கூறு அதிகம் என்றும் கருத்துக்கணிப்புகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

The Liberal Party of Australia was founded a year after the 1943 federal election.

Its founder was Sir Robert Menzies who was to become Australia’s longest serving Prime Minister.

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has long been a key political figure in the federal arena and if the polls are right he’s about to become Australia’s next Prime Minister, and, as things stand Mr Abbott looks likely to benefit from a bizarre period of Australian politics with the script-lines of a soap opera and the intrigue and brutality of a murder mystery.

But as the alternative Prime Minister of Australia, just who is Tony Abbott and what would he bring to the nation’s top job?

Three days have passed since the campaign for the upcoming Australian election officially started.  Both Labor and the Coalition parties claim that the people will be better off under their administration.  Reserve Bank of Australia announced a 23-year low cash rate on Tuesday.

Refugee advocates have criticised a new Coalition plan to greatly expand the number of asylum seekers sent to Nauru.

Opposition leader Tony Abbott says a Coalition government would erect a tent city on Nauru, to initially house at least two-thousand people.

The plan comes amid further criticism of Labor’s decision to process all asylum seekers arriving by boat, in Papua New Guinea.

July 30 is International Friendship day

The International day was declared with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

In celebrating the 2011 proclamation by the UN General Assembly, Kulasegaram Sanchayan solicits views on ‘friendship.’

Poem was written and rendered by Poet Aanni.  Mr Thamibippillai Nanthivarman, Dr Sudharshini Pranavan, and Mr Mylvaganam Thanabalasingam expressed their opinions on friendship.  The voices in this segment include that of Subha, Illanko, Parimalanathan, Shanthini, Vaishnavi, and Niraja.

From his young days, Dr John G Samuel was interested in Tamil Studies.

Dr John Samuel is the founder of the Institute of Asian Studies in Chennai.  The IAS is a spiritual centre hallowed in the ancient literary and cultural traditions of Asia.  Since it’s inception in 1982, it has grown to become one of India’s premier indological research and publication institutes.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd recently announced that it is shifting the burden of asylum seekers arriving by boat to Papua New Guinea.  This would effectively cease Australia from its obligations.
