Sasquatch Odyssey episodes

  • Bigfoot Country: Part Seven
In this episode, the journey takes a dramatic turn as Brian's podcasting career reaches new heights and dangerous new lows.

What begins as a powerful collection of witness encounters from across the country — a conservation officer in Minnesota's Boundary Waters, a Mississippi fisherman on the Big Black River, a West Virginia coal miner who found something living deep underground, and a Cajun folk healer who speaks of the loup-garou with reverence rather than fear — quickly evolves into something far more consequential.

A television producer named Amanda from Meridian Productions returns with an offer to bring Sasquatch Odyssey to the screen as a legitimate documentary series. Brian agrees, but only on his terms: editorial control, no sensationalism, and absolute respect for the witnesses. The production takes the team from the Olympic Peninsula to the Ozarks and back to the Pisgah National Forest, where the mystery of Austin Reeves still lingers in every shadow and hollow.

But the closer Brian gets to the truth, the harder certain forces push back. A devastating act of arson destroys his home, his studio, and nearly everything he and Daniel have built together.

The local investigation is a sham, but an ATF agent named Sarah Brown finds evidence of professional-grade incendiary devices and a cover-up that reaches far above her pay grade.

Rather than retreat, Brian and Daniel rebuild — bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever. The episode also explores the emotional toll of this work through quieter moments: the frustration of sorting genuine encounters from fabrications, the patience required to find voices like eighty-two-year-old Lucille Marsh from rural Georgia, and the steady, grounding presence of Daniel through it all.

From Wisconsin dairy farms to Nebraska sandhills, witnesses from the American heartland reveal that these creatures aren't just hiding in remote wilderness — they've adapted to live alongside us in the margins, watching from the edges of our everyday world.

The documentary airs, reaches millions, and ignites a national conversation. The community grows. The threats continue. And the odyssey pushes forward, one story at a time.

  • Twenty Feet from Bigfoot: A Bowhunter’s Encounter
Brian welcomes Tim from Macon County, North Carolina, whose interest in Bigfoot began in an unexpected way. Years ago, he and a friend decided to prank the friend’s sons by creating fake tracks in the woods, a harmless hoax meant to stir up a little excitement. But not long after, the joke seemed to take on a life of its own.

Beginning in 2008, Tim says unexplained activity started occurring on the property—events that made him question whether something real might be moving through those woods. What followed were a series of strange and unsettling incidents.

Tim recalls a raccoon being violently killed while a deep roar and whistling sounds echoed through the area. He also describes rocks and sticks being thrown, piercing screams from the darkness, and repeated disturbances around the trails, deer stands, and feeders scattered throughout the property. Over time, these experiences escalated from mysterious noises to what Tim believes were direct encounters.

One involved a creature he photographed alongside researcher Dwight Campbell. Another encounter occurred while Tim was bow hunting, when he says a large figure appeared within roughly twenty feet of him. In a separate experience in Cades Cove, he observed something during the daytime using thermal equipment. More recently, in 2022, Tim describes seeing a creature on the ground that crawled away from the area rather than standing upright. Tim also recounts a trip following the South Carolina Bigfoot Festival, when his group returned to a location where bluff-charge vocalizations had previously been reported.

The area had already generated stories from other witnesses, including reports of glowing eyes and even claims of a dogman-like creature moving through the woods.Despite skepticism from some people in his life, Tim remains focused on documenting what he believes is genuine activity. One of the moments that left the strongest impression on him involved hearing what sounded like two creatures communicating back and forth, an experience that reinforced his belief that these beings possess intelligence and complex behavior.

Today, Tim continues researching and sharing his experiences while encouraging others to approach the subject with curiosity and an open mind. He also promotes his work with Sasquatch Recon, North Carolina Investigates, and his online channels, where he documents ongoing field efforts and discussions surrounding the mystery.

  • Bigfoot Country: Part Six
In this installment, Daniel finds something he never expected: normalcy. A job at a local pizza place, the simple rhythm of work and home, the blessed absence of danger. After everything they've survived, boring feels like a gift.Meanwhile, Brian's podcast has exploded beyond anything he imagined. Five million downloads.

Tens of thousands of community members. Emails pouring in from witnesses who've carried their secrets for decades, finally finding a place where someone believes them. A seventy-eight-year-old woman writes to share an encounter she's hidden since 1952, and Brian remembers exactly why he does this work. But success brings complications. For every credible witness, there are a dozen others whose stories fall apart under scrutiny. A construction worker from British Columbia claims an intimate encounter with a female Sasquatch, and Brian is forced to draw hard lines about what belongs on the show.

Then a retired nurse from New Mexico shares something different entirely: a story of a young Navajo man brought to her hospital in 1992, speaking of being taken by "the big people," and the federal agents who confiscated every piece of evidence before intimidating him into silence. The wheat and the chaff. Sorting one from the other becomes Brian's constant burden. Then the men in black return. Different faces, same cold authority.

They come with an offer: classified documents revealing decades of suppressed research, interdimensional hypotheses, everything Brian has been searching for. The price? Stop pushing for official disclosure. Become a partner in managing the truth rather than forcing it into the light. Brian refuses

Eighteen months later, they burn his studio to the ground. But fire has a way of spreading what it's meant to destroy. The attack makes national news. Donations flood in. A major network offers a television deal with full editorial control. And soon Brian finds himself leading an expedition into the Pisgah with a full production crew, thermal cameras, and night vision equipment.

On the eighth night, in a hollow near where Austin Mercer vanished, the forest comes alive with wood knocks and howls. The creatures stay just beyond the cameras, too smart to be caught clearly, but their presence is undeniable. It isn't definitive proof.

But it's evidence the world will have to reckon with. And at a simple wooden cross marking where Austin was last seen, Brian says a quiet prayer for all those who've disappeared into these ancient mountains, and for the truth still waiting to be found.

  • Bigfoot Backhands A Caribou
Fred from the Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube channel is back, and before we get started, make sure you click the link in the show notes and head over to subscribe to his channel. If you care about firsthand accounts coming straight out of Alaska and rooted in lived cultural experience, Fred’s work is essential listening.

In this episode, Fred takes us beyond simple encounter stories and into the foundation of how knowledge is preserved in his culture. He explains the vital role oral tradition plays in passing down history, survival skills, and encounters with what many in his community know as the Hairy Man. Written documentation is rare.

He points out that “Story Knife” remains one of the few works that even attempts to capture fragments of that tradition in print. For generations, stories were not recorded in books—they were carried in memory, tied to landmarks, seasons, and lived experience. Fred also reflects on navigation, describing how descriptive mapping and deep familiarity with terrain once guided people across vast, unforgiving landscapes long before GPS existed. In his view, those skills are not outdated relics—they still matter. The conversation then shifts to a chilling account Fred heard in 2004 from a man named Jerry in Togiak. Jerry described a winter hunting trip west of Non Dalton that took a terrifying turn.

During the hunt, a scream erupted across the tundra so intense that it scattered nearby wolves. What followed was even more disturbing. A Hairy Man reportedly struck a caribou with a single backhand blow to the ribs, dropping it. Jerry and his companions salvaged and packed the meat, trying to focus on the task at hand, but the encounter was far from over. The creature returned, and in an overwhelming display of strength and dominance, it threw their packed quarters over a ridge.

The men abandoned the situation and escaped on their snow machines, shaken by what they had witnessed. Jerry also recalled an earlier sighting along the West Channel of the Nok River, where he saw a tall, young, slender Hairy Man that fled the area and swam away, avoiding contact. Fred then shares experiences from a property owner near Juneau, referred to as “Sam,” whose encounters unfolded over time rather than in a single dramatic moment.

Sam described strange whistling that mimicked human tones, the sound and sight of bipedal movement in the trees, prolonged wood-banging that echoed through the forest, rocks landing near hunters, and even owl hoots that felt deliberately imitative rather than natural. Alongside these physical signs was a persistent, oppressive feeling in the woods—an atmosphere that made it clear something was present. Sam hesitated to speak openly for fear of ridicule, something Fred notes is common among witnesses.

He also discusses a website encounter map and highlights recurring patterns across Alaska: whistles, rock throwing, wood knocks, and vocal mimicry that suggest these accounts follow familiar themes.

  • SO EP:734 The Sasquatch Experience
Tonight Brian welcomes Sean Forker from The Sasquatch Experience podcast for a candid and wide-ranging conversation about Bigfoot research, early podcasting, hoaxes, and a chilling encounter in the Pennsylvania woods. Sean shares how his fascination with Sasquatch began decades ago through books and television, eventually leading him to join the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society and actively investigate reports in the field. What started as curiosity grew into boots-on-the-ground research—and later into one of the earliest Bigfoot podcasts.

Sean recounts how The Sasquatch Experience was born in 2006 after he called into a radio show to challenge questionable claims on air. That moment sparked the creation of a live call-in format that helped shape the early landscape of Bigfoot podcasting and gave witnesses a platform to share their experiences directly with listeners. Brian and Sean dive into the persistent problem of hoaxes and the real-world cost investigators pay when chasing fabricated claims. They also revisit the enduring debate surrounding the Patterson-Gimlin film, discussing inconsistencies, the limits of human memory over decades, and how perspectives on the footage have evolved over time.

The conversation takes a dramatic turn as Sean details a 2012 campsite incident in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. What began as a quiet night in the woods escalated into something far stranger: a large, fast-moving figure in the treeline, heavy bipedal footfalls circling the tent, a fire that mysteriously reignited, and a green glow stick thrown into the darkness that appeared to be picked up and held. He also describes a single, unexplained flash of light—an event he would experience again years later in 2016—adding another layer of mystery to the encounter.

Throughout the episode, Brian and Sean tackle the divide between “woo” narratives and a flesh-and-blood interpretation of Sasquatch, explore how pop culture shapes witness testimony, and discuss Sean’s upcoming Pennsylvania-focused book with Small Town Monsters. It’s an honest, grounded, and thought-provoking discussion that challenges assumptions while staying rooted in firsthand experience and investigative integrity.

  • SO EP:733 Boogers In The Cornfield
Jerry and the Sasquatch Recon crew return as Jerry shares how a childhood viewing of The Legend of Boggy Creek and a 1977 book fair purchase sparked his fascination with Bigfoot—an interest that intensified after moving near the South Mountains, where he began finding tree breaks pointing toward water. By 2015 he was hearing wood knocks and eerie vocalizations, and in 2017 he and his wife watched a large figure glide effortlessly through a cornfield beside their home.

A 2019 sighting by family members near his pasture led to escalating activity around his property, including moved objects, opened feed barrels, dragged water containers, and late-night pounding on the house. After appearing in a 2021 Fox documentary, others began sharing their encounters, inspiring him to interview dozens of witnesses and launch a show focused on credible reports. He recounts chilling experiences while tending animals—piercing whistles, bassy vocal blasts, and two overwhelming howls that stirred deep fear and inspired his poem “The Haunted.” Rock-throwing incidents, damaged property, and reports of severely injured or killed animals in the region reinforce his belief that something powerful is operating in the area.

Research into a late-1970s wave of sightings, along with local lore and unusual tracks, leaves him open to multiple phenomena, including the possibility of “dog men.”

He discusses regional names like “Knobby,” “boogers,” and “wampus,” seasonal movement patterns along Wards Creek, and the way his animals react to disturbances. The episode closes with what he considers his strongest evidence: video footage of an exceptionally tall white or gray figure standing in a neighboring pasture, appearing taller than nearby six-and-a-half-foot fence posts.

  • SO EP:732 Don't Mess With The Hairyman!
Fred from the Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube Channel is back! Be sure to click the link in the show notes below and check out Fred’s amazing channel.

Fred, a tribal council member from Dillingham, Alaska, returns to share chilling accounts of encounters with what he calls the “hairy man.” In his First Nations culture, these experiences are not sensationalized—they’re part of oral history and everyday life in remote Alaska.

In the first story, two relatives—“Penelope” and “Jasmine”—were camping on a gravel bar near the confluence of the Nuuk and Ishak rivers while heading to Harris Creek to prospect for gold. During the night, they heard strange noises and saw multiple sets of eyeshine—white and amber/red—watching from the darkness. Penelope witnessed a massive, dark, man-like figure with long arms moving along the riverbank.

What followed escalated quickly: a blood-curdling scream, pebbles tossed into the water, and even a broken birch tree thrown into the channel. A towering figure—estimated around 12 feet tall—paced, swayed, squatted, showed its teeth, and vocalized while more eyeshine appeared in the distance, suggesting multiple beings. After a warning shot was fired, the activity briefly stopped—but later something crossed the channel, circled their tent while huffing like a bear, screamed from just 15 feet away, and even rocked a large tree stump near camp. Shots were fired from inside the tent before the pair fled in their boat, leaving their camp behind.

Reports of screams, thrown objects, tracks, and even UFO sightings are common in the remote regions he represents. He then shares a second account from about 20 years ago. Two friends, “Benson” and “Terry,” set out on a 10-day fly-fishing trip that ended early after repeated frightening events. They experienced unnatural silence, large tracks, and the constant feeling of being watched. Terry saw a large man-like figure in the tundra and later encountered something 8 to 8.5 feet tall standing in a creek, unfazed by shouting. On the sixth day, Benson followed a strange melodic whistle and appeared briefly trance-like before Terry stopped him.

That night, Benson finally saw the creature clearly—squatted about 20 feet from camp with glowing red eyeshine, a wrinkled face, massive hands, and large block-like teeth framed by thick fur. When Terry aimed his rifle, it screamed. Shots were fired, and they believed it may have been hit.The creature returned repeatedly that night and eventually grabbed and threw their tent before running off after more gunfire.

By day seven, they hiked out and were picked up early. Benson later remembered a warning from a Native friend: “Do not mess with the hairy man.”

  • SO EP:731 Bigfoot and the Missing Boy
Brian sits down with Steve of Steve Searches to talk Bigfoot research, drone mapping, and going solo in the wild. Steve traces his fascination back to the Patterson–Gimlin film and The Legend of Boggy Creek, plus years of solo camping on a Montana farm. After military service, he built a career in drafting and mapmaking—eventually integrating drones into terrain mapping, a skill he now uses in Sasquatch research.

Midway through the episode, Brian pauses to provide a detailed update on the disappearance of Kyron Horman (June 4, 2010, Skyline Elementary, Portland).

He outlines the timeline, investigative shifts, focus on stepmother Terri Horman, reported inconsistencies, and alleged murder-for-hire claims. With renewed review efforts under a new DA in 2025—including digitization and planned FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit involvement—the case remains open. A $50,000 reward is still being offered for credible information.

Back in the forest, Steve shares experiences from Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Mount St. Helens, including a 2008 incident near Ape Cave involving sudden silence and a strong animal odor. Around 2020–2021, he connected with regional researchers, began pro bono drone work, attended Squatch festivals, and launched Steve Searches (YouTube, Facebook, and blog) in 2023. He’s since collaborated with Michelle Heaton, the Sweet Home Oregon Sasquatch Research Group, and Sasquatch Highway.

Steve describes his evidence-first approach—mapping, measuring, documenting, and presenting findings without firm conclusions—while remaining open to high-strangeness elements. He also discusses solo field safety and recounts intense 2023–2024 encounters, including loud rock clacks, nighttime footsteps around his tent, and a large limb crashing across a road as he packed up—an event that ended the trip.

Find Steve at Steve Searches (YouTube & Facebook), stevesearches.com, and his new project Planet Sasquatch, a developing hub for gear reviews and shared field techniques.

  • SO EP:730 The Sheriff Of Bigfoot Country: Part Five
Sheriff Brian Patterson steps away from the badge and into the microphone full time as Sasquatch Odyssey explodes beyond anything he ever imagined. Part Five picks up with the podcast in full swing, and the witnesses are lining up from every corner of the South and beyond to finally tell the stories they have been carrying in silence for decades. It starts in the mountains of northeast Georgia with a seventy-three-year-old retired logger named Earl Hutchins, a man who kept his mouth shut for forty-five years about what stepped out of the timber near Clayton in the fall of nineteen seventy-eight. His story breaks something open.

The emails start flooding in from across the region, and Patterson finds himself recording encounter after encounter from witnesses who never had anyone willing to listen. A retired schoolteacher from Ellijay describes the thing that came screaming out of the Chattahoochee National Forest and changed the way she felt about the woods forever. A fishing guide from Everglades City recounts the night a pair of glowing eyes tracked him across the water in the Ten Thousand Islands. A teenage girl in Oconee County, South Carolina watched something unfold from a rhododendron thicket while her daddy's bluetick hound shook itself half to death against her leg.

The stories stretch across state lines and keep coming. Arkansas. Tennessee. Virginia. A coon hunter and his cousin tree something in the Ouachitas that no lantern light should ever have revealed. A family of four flees a Cherokee National Forest campsite at three in the morning. A state trooper on Skyline Drive watches something cross a two-lane highway in three strides and never tells a soul.

Then the podcast goes national and the picture gets bigger. A Lummi Nation elder speaks of the Ts'emekwes his people have known for thousands of years.

A woman in the Hocking Hills of Ohio locks eyes with something standing between the trees in broad daylight and never hikes again. From Louisiana to Alaska to Hawaii, the encounters pile up, and Patterson starts to understand that this is not a regional phenomenon. It is everywhere. When the show crosses international borders, the scope becomes staggering. A First Nations man from British Columbia reminds the world that his people gave us the word Sasquatch in the first place. A Russian researcher describes a shape moving through snow in the Pamir Mountains. An Australian prospector watches something vanish from a waterhole in the outback. Sherpas in Nepal, scientists in China, guides in the Amazon — every culture, every continent, every corner of the wild world has a name for what lives in the places humans do not go. But it is the deep encounters that change everything.

A hospice nurse in rural Kentucky describes the night something appeared at her dying husband's window and hummed him into his final moment of peace. A lost hiker in the Gila Wilderness receives images in her mind that lead her back to safety. A former Army Ranger wakes paralyzed in the Big Thicket while something rifles through his thoughts like pages in a book.

These are the stories that keep Patterson up at night and force him to ask whether these creatures are something far stranger and far more profound than anyone has been willing to consider. By the end of Part Five, Patterson is two years into full-time podcasting with over three hundred interviews behind him and patterns emerging from the noise. The creatures follow corridors. They move with the seasons.

They choose when to be seen. And a small but undeniable percentage of encounters suggest something beyond biology, beyond what any scientific framework can currently explain. The podcast has crossed a million downloads. The community is growing. The world is slowly waking up. And somewhere out in the deep woods, something is watching back.

  • SO EP:729 The Sheriff Of Bigfoot Country: Part Four
In this episode, Brian continues reading from his upcoming book The Sheriff of Bigfoot Country, picking up with Part Four as the story reaches a turning point that changes everything. The classified Mount St. Helens documents reveal the full scope of Project Vulcan, a secret government operation to recover the bodies of creatures killed in the 1980 eruption. Military teams moved in under the cover of legitimate rescue operations, extracting remains before civilian responders could find them.

Medical reports describe three survivors, including one creature that lived for nearly three weeks before giving up and dying in a government facility. The autopsy findings are staggering, pointing to a species with cranial capacity far exceeding modern humans and brain structures suggesting complex language and abstract reasoning.

Four witnesses who were there in 1980 finally break their silence. A county sheriff who watched them load bodies onto helicopters. A helicopter pilot who flew the remains to a facility in Nevada. A trauma surgeon who held the hand of a dying creature she called George. A Forest Service employee who saw a massive hand slip from beneath a tarp. Each one was threatened into silence for forty years. Each one is done carrying that weight.

The documentary gets picked up by a major streaming platform, and then gets killed two weeks before air when shadowy forces pressure the network into pulling it. Brian and Amanda fight back by releasing everything online, piece by piece, and the response is overwhelming. Millions of views. Hundreds of new witnesses stepping forward. The cover-up begins to crumble. But being sheriff has become impossible. The county commissioners question Brian's sanity. The hate mail piles up alongside letters from grateful witnesses across the country.

And on a rainy Tuesday night, Daniel suggests something that will change the course of Brian's life: a podcast. That conversation leads to the birth of Sasquatch Odyssey, and the beginning of a new chapter.

This is where the badge meets a bigger calling, and Brian has to decide which fight matters most.
