It’s nearly here. Despite all of the controversies and issues, which we spoke about last week, the long-anticipated Qatar World Cup is just days away from kicking off. How will Japan and Australia do? Can Messi finally do it in his last World Cup, or will England finally take football home? There’s a lot to look forward to over the next 4 weeks.

The 2022 World Cup is just over a week away and in the 12 years since Qatar was selected as host, the controversies have only gotten bigger and louder. From messing up just about every major league’s schedule, LGBT rights and migrant worker deaths, there is much more than football happening this month.

They cover everything from lucky charms and animals that lead to winning teams, to a baseball clown running the bases and winding up umpires, to a disrespectful man in a chicken suit all the way to cute and cuddly Sesame Street-like characters making kids happy. This is the story of mascots.

Last week, we claimed that being a football pundit might be the best job in the world. Well, how about being a football commentator? Getting paid to watch football and describe it to the world, and to take your place in history alongside some of the most iconic moments.
