How to motivate employees at work?
Well, I have been hearing this from many Managers and Team Leaders that they are facing a hard time motivating their employees. They tried to listen to the work problems and family concerns still after counseling them these Team Managers are not getting fruitful results.
As myself has managed a team of 300 people in the last 16 years, I observed that it not just about motivation, it is much more than that. Incorporate companies, the work culture has become worse since the last decade. The employee's concerns and values have been ignored largely. Not just concerns and values, even the work culture has changed drastically. Wherein employees are not happy even at the beginning of their day in office.
So what are those things which are not letting them be happy even if they are earning a good salary? Well, I observed and researched and found that most employees are not just after money. In fact, they are more concerned with their self-growth, self-esteem, and self-worthiness.
Every day they have been given their tasks plus huge targets to accomplish, however, until employees are not inspired from within? the work quality would not come. There are many road blockers for them which no one wants to remove, not even their immediate managers. And that's where it begins.
An employee is only concerned about a few things as those elements are necessary for them to give their 100% productivity and quality. Some of the major concerns employees have are -
1) The good working environment wherein they feel fresh and it inspires them to focus on their work.
2) Clarity of their daily, weekly, and monthly goals from their immediate managers.
3) Coaching on their weak skills.
4) Getting praise from the Team managers for doing quality work and received appreciation from clients.
5) Additional tasks which help them to learn something new at work and makes them ready for the next role. This will not only help to show their calibre and creativity but also their potential to be a future leader in that company.
6) Employees are concerned about their Self Respect just like everyone else. They do not like to scold by the boss or colleagues makes fun of them.
7) They expect their managers to understand their personal conditional as a human and be supportive of the same. Not just one thing to focus primarily leads generation and generating more sales.
8) They care about Not be involved in any office politics or spoiling their image in front of their leaders.
All these things are quite genuine at their part and should be taken care of by the leaders. However, the environment of these corporates is just very artificial now. As they only give importance to the quantity of work an employee does and then the quality but in return no appreciation to them.
The reason for creating this podcast was to share until the roots are not being worked upon the tree will not give fruits. Hence, it is very imperative that immediate managers should take care of the concerns of their employees so they can work on the best efficiency of them.
