  • 1-3 Building Toxic-Free School Cultures

When it comes to school, most kids want nothing more than to feel safe and happy. Unfortunately, too often this isn't the reality for students who experience toxic school cultures. Toxic school culture is one in which there is a high level of stress and tension, and employees are not empowered to make decisions that are best for them and the school community as a whole. To help prevent this from happening and build a toxic-free school culture where everyone feels safe and supported, it is important for administrators and teachers to work together. By understanding education policy, engaging in open discussion, and setting clear boundaries, educators and administrators can work together to create a positive learning environment for all students.

  • 1-2 Why is now the time for effective cell phone policies in schools?

A cell phone ban in school would be ineffective, impractical, and counterproductive because students would not follow the rules and it would be difficult to enforce.

Having unclear and impractical cell phone policies can be harmful to students' well-being and learning. Cell phones can be used for cyberbullying, which can lead to psychological damage and in some cases suicide.

The Multi-tiered Safe Pouch is a device that stops cell phone distractions and misuse of smartphones in school. The Multi-tiered Safe Pouch is a cell phone policy and solution that allows all staff to work together as a team to make school discipline procedures more positive, impactful, and immediate.

    ABOUT JOHN NGUYEN

I have been teaching science at a Title I high school since 2011. I mentored new teachers as an Induction Coach and co-department chair. I co-founded Sleedu.com to host a Learning Management System for classroom teachers and I to implement blended teaching that streamlines learning equity and the academic multi-tiered system of support. After the death of a student from one of my feeder middle schools, I invented Safe Pouch to empower teachers and other staff to redefine their Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

  • 7-Dear Teachers, Please Don't Be Afraid

    Dear teachers,

You always want to be a preacher.

You talked about what students need to have or must be

    Perseverance, Growth-Mindset, and Responsibility

Yet, have ever asked what you need to have or must be

for your students and your self-integrity.

    I know you are frustrated.

When students don't show their faces

    I know you are tired.

When using new technology get you backfired.

    I know what you're thinking.

I'm too tired to learn anything new.

I'm too exhausted to try anything new.

I just don't have the time.

    It's too late;

I don't want it on my busy plate.

    "Well, it's not just me,"

    you said.

    It's also my students too.

I don't to learn new strategies,

    or implement new technology

    because of my empathy

    for my students' overloaded capacity.

    Yet, you continue to ask

Students need to have or must be.

    Perseverance, Growth-mindset, and Responsibility.

If you already determined it is over,

    You're already set the limit.

You are already put an end.

    Why do you want more?

Why do you ask for more?

As educators during this challenging time.

    It's more even important than just to be a preacher;

    You must be a doer.

    You must be a demonstrator.

You have to have what we want our students to have.

You must be to be what we want our students to be.

So, the next time you ask your students:

I want you all to have and must be

    Perseverance, Growth-Mindset, and Responsibility.

    Don't ask.

Don't be afraid to try new strategies

Don't give up in learn new technology.

Don't worry about some students' resistance.

    Just do it.

Do you what you ask your students have or must be.

    Perseverance, Growth-mindset, and responsibility.

    Don't set a limit for yourself;

Don't determine the limit of all students because a few.

    Just do it.

Education is not about pretending to be perfect.

Teaching is not about setting limitations

of what your students can do

because of what you cannot do.

    My dear  teachers,

I know you already have it.

    I know you already are.

    Perseverance, Growth-Mindset, and Responsibility

You just need to stop being afraid

    and just do it.
