Saving People, Queering Things

We're back with Noah, August, Elayna, and guest host Beth from Driver Picks the Podcast! This week, we talk about "logistical challenges" posed by the Loch Ness Monster, Cas and his relation to the Anthropocene, and how pretty much this entire show is just the illusion of heterosexuality.

Brother, it's 10am on a Tuesday. In this Season 8 finale, your Queering Things hosts rant about how this episode handles Sam and Dean's conflict and bemoan the fact that Dean and Cas finally talk about their feelings but not their Feelings. Naomi gets hers (offscreen?!), Crowley almost becomes the world's hottest, saddest human, and we discuss the implications of Metatron stealing Cas' grace to throw the angels out of heaven. Finally, Noah gives his best galaxy-brain predictions for the beginning of Season 9.

Other topics of note include:

• Cupid wants Dean and Cas to see Gay Love in this bar.
• Thank GOD they didn't kill Jody.
• We play a little fast and loose with Chuck-related spoilers.
• Naomi deserved a better takedown episode arc.
• Noah proposes an alternate timeline.
• Angel reproductive rights and responsiblilities

Let the stories you love lead you to the Resistance!

In the penultimate episode of season 8, Elayna, Sam, August, Noah & KJ discuss Heartland spoilers, the word penultimate, what Metatron's Ao3 account might include, and how the boys are always trying to out crisis mode each other.

(And because we promised Noah to put it in the description... Penultimate: penultimate! PENULTIMATE? peNulTimAtE!!!)

Let the stories you love lead you to the Resistance!

This week, Noah & August talk about the introduction of Metatron, Kevin playing 4D chess with demons , and the Crowley of it all. Naomi continues to be just a delight (sarcastically), Sam's mental health is on an downward spiral, and Castiel's playing hide and seek in mid-America chain diners.

Finally, we have a long discussion about how stories have been catalysts for how we live in the world and how Metatron misses the mark in what he takes from perceiving humanity's narratives.

What stories have changed your life? Tell us on discord or by emailing [email protected].

Other topics include:

• Memory-wiping as our least favourite kind of torture.
• Kevin & Frank skills comparisons.
• Fam & Fean the Sam & Dean Dopplegangers.
• Big issues with the Indigenous representation in this episode (and a larger convo about the larger picture).
• Angel railroading via Naomi's best efforts.
• Cas' free will = Cas' love for humanity
• Noah's anti-blessing to the Supernatural casting department this episode.

Montage! In this video game themed episode, we talk Charlie as a fandom self-insert, the digitization of the Chuck Shurley books (and the Destiel implications), and we have a moment of appreciation for a young Manny Jacinto.

Other topics include:

• Charlie is an anti-capitalist icon.
• Maybe don't knock your brother out on a concrete floor-
• Canadian passports!
• New Djinn lore.

Would you go to Hell for your top 8 on MySpace?

This week, Noah is devastated about Bobby, we talk about Dean's doomed relationship with Benny, and we question some afterlife logistics (How exactly is there a back door to hell? Where do angels go when they die? Are all reapers bad at their jobs?). Finally, we admit it. We've never been to the Mall of America.

Other topics include:

• Crowley is an asshole (affectionate).
• The Winchesters keep forgetting they have notorious reputations.
• Props to the special effects team!
• Bobby calling out Sam for not looking for Dean.
• It would have been really helpful if Sam had known Dean was a monsterfucker for Benny.

It’s a sibling special! Noah, Sam and August are joined by three of their siblings to talk about our newest crew of teens being manipulated by the adult hunter in their lives.

We talk about parallels between Krissy and Dean, Aiden being shady as ****, and Victor’s creepy rationale for his kid hunter organization.

We also discuss consent, autonomy, and innocence- where it’s lacking in this episode, who is taking advantage of that, and what it means for these kid hunters and their future choices.

Thanks to Ezra, Sy and Theo for joining us this week!
