Story Transcript:

Nl: Jeroen stond op zijn fiets in het hart van Amsterdam.
En: Jeroen was standing on his bicycle in the heart of Amsterdam.

Nl: In zijn handen hield hij een stroopwafel en een zak haring.
En: In his hands he held a stroopwafel and a bag of herring.

Nl: Hij had net besloten om beide lekkernijen te proeven, maar had geen idee hoe hij dit moest doen terwijl hij ook nog eens moest fietsen.
En: He had just decided to taste both delicacies, but had no idea how to do this while also riding his bike.

Nl: Ondanks zijn dilemma zette Jeroen vastberaden een voet op zijn pedaal en begon te trappen.
En: Despite his dilemma, Jeroen firmly put one foot on his pedal and started pedaling.

Nl: Het kostte hem even om zijn evenwicht te vinden, maar uiteindelijk ging hij vooruit, genietend van de zoete smaak van zijn stroopwafel en de zilte geur van zijn haring.
En: It took him a while to find his balance, but eventually he moved forward, enjoying the sweet taste of his stroopwafel and the salty smell of his herring.

En: But then the inevitable happened.

Nl: Jeroen leunde een beetje te ver naar links en de zak haring begon te wiebelen.
En: Jeroen leaned a little too far to the left and the bag of herring started to wobble.

En: He tried to correct it with his other hand, but that caused the stroopwafel to fall out of his mouth and onto the street.

Nl: Jeroen stopte zijn fiets om de stroopwafel op te rapen en kreeg zo de tijd om na te denken.
En: Jeroen stopped his bicycle to pick up the stroopwafel and thus had time to think.

Nl: Hij realiseerde zich dat het eten van een stroopwafel en het vasthouden van een zak haring terwijl hij fietste, niet de slimste beslissing was die hij ooit had genomen.
En: He realized that eating a stroopwafel and holding a bag of herring while cycling was not the smartest decision he had ever made.

Nl: Maar de gedachte aan het missen van al dat heerlijke Hollandse eten was genoeg om hem weer op de pedalen te krijgen.
En: But the thought of missing out on all that delicious Dutch food was enough to get him back on the pedals.

Nl: Deze keer hield hij de zak haring steviger vast en legde hij de stroopwafel veilig in de zak van zijn jas.
En: This time he held the bag of herring tighter and put the stroopwafel safely in the pocket of his jacket.

Nl: Terwijl hij verder fietste, proefde hij elke hap van zijn haring, terwijl de wind door zijn haar wapperde en de stad om hem heen voorbij schoot.
En: As he cycled on, he tasted every bite of his herring, the wind blowing through his hair and the city passing by around him.

Nl: En toen hij klaar was, Na het genieten van de laatste haring, keek Jeroen om zich heen.
En: And when he was done, After enjoying the last herring, Jeroen looked around.

Nl: Hij realiseerde zich dat Amsterdam de mooiste stad ter wereld was, en dat hij blij was dat hij op zijn fiets zat om het allemaal van dichtbij te beleven.
En: He realized that Amsterdam was the most beautiful city in the world, and that he was glad to be on his bike to experience it all up close.

Nl: Met een voldaan gevoel stapte Jeroen van zijn fiets af en keek omhoog naar de prachtige architectuur.
En: With a satisfied feeling, Jeroen got off his bike and looked up at the beautiful architecture.

Nl: Hij wist dat hij altijd terug zou komen naar deze stad, om opnieuw te genieten van de heerlijke lekkernijen, en de prachtige omgeving waar Amsterdam bekend om staat.
En: He knew that he would always come back to this city, to enjoy the delicious delicacies and the beautiful surroundings that Amsterdam is known for.
