know British Columbia has a wine region? This week the Savory Road leads to the

Okanagan Valley - a four hour drive east of Vancouver. In this semi arid yet

beautiful area, we found a  100 mile lake

dotted with vineyards that produce some remarkably good tasting wines –

including a specialty of the area – ice wine. Find out more this Thursday morning at 6:45 and

Jeff visits the public market at Vancouver's Granville island. After an interesting history lesson, he samples candy, pastries, macrons, fresh seafood, and more.

In the early 1970's, Seattle's decaying Pike Place Market was scheduled to be torn down and replaced with hotels and office buildings. Listen and find out how it was saved.

Built in 1927, this giant coffee cup has been a drive through restuarant, Go-Go Dance Hall, and Polynesian-themed dance club. On their family West Coast road trip, Jeff and Donna revisit this old haunt from their college years.

This week our west coast Savory Road trip concludes

in my home town of Seattle. Did you know that

the Pike Place Market – the birthplace of Starbucks and flying salmon came very close

to being torn down? Imagine Seattle without this iconic waterfront market and

it’s abundance of eclectic buildings, cafes, and market stalls. Find out who

wanted it demolished, and who saved it this Thursday

Mount Hood's Timberline Lodge played the role of the Overlook Hotel in the movie The Shining - at least the exterior did. Inside the real hotel we found great food and drink (along with splendid views)

This

week our west coast Savory Road trip continues as we leave Portland and head

east along the Columbia River Gorge, hang a right at Hood River and ascend

Mount Hood until we find the gem of the pacific northwest – The Timberline

Lodge. I’ll share some horror movie trivia and maybe a slice of bacon or two.
