  • Scuba Suit Built For A Cockroach / Cookie Company Makes Treats Just For Dogs / Bison Return To Mexican Desert After Two Hundred Years
Say What?! is the daily news show for kids 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: scientists give a cockroach its own tiny scuba suit so it can breathe underwater for three hours, a cookie company bakes its very first treats made just for dogs, and 48 bison return to a Mexican desert after two hundred years away, already helping the land come back to life.

  • A Shop Where Nothing Works / A Grandmother Levels Up / The Letter Nobody Opened / Caller from Australia: One Hundred Pet Snakes
Say What?! is the news show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: a shop in Seattle where every single thing is useless on purpose, including charging wires sold already tangled and a phone that only ever plays one song. Then a grandmother in Scotland who picked up a video game nine years ago, never put it down, and now has thousands of people watching her play every day. And a letter written on clay three thousand eight hundred years ago, sealed inside a clay envelope and never opened, which scientists have finally read using a scanner that looks straight through it. Plus a Friday caller from Australia with one hundred and twenty six pet snakes, a barbecue nobody comes to, and an invitation strategy that needs rethinking. Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera take it from there.

  • Cows Lead The Parade In A Town Built On Cheese / Four Kinds Of Penguin Hiding In The Same Outfit / Two Fourteen Year Olds Swim A Whole Sea
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: a town in Wisconsin has thrown a giant cheese party every other year since 1914, and the parade is led from the front by actual cows, who set the pace for everybody behind them. There is yodelling, there are enormous horns that rest on the ground because farmers once used them to call each other across mountains, and there is a cheese quiz. Then a penguin puzzle: for more than a hundred years everyone thought one kind of penguin was a single big family, and scientists have just worked out there are four different kinds, one of them brand new and never named before. Nobody spotted it because they all wear exactly the same outfit, white front and black back, like a school photo where everyone has the same jumper. And two fourteen year old friends, Izzy and Susy, swam almost thirty kilometres across a whole piece of sea in six hours and twenty eight minutes, the youngest people ever to do it. Our favourite part: Susy is slightly younger, so she let Izzy climb out of the water first, which made Izzy the youngest ever for about ten seconds. Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera take it from there. New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • A Whole City Built Under One House / A Table Three Miles Long / The Pond Blob Faster Than A Blink
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: a man called Joe drives a big truck all day, then spends twenty two years in the room under his house building the whole of New York out of little bits of soft wood. Eight hundred thousand tiny buildings. He got the idea on a school trip when he was six, and now a big museum has put the lot on show. Then a city in Romania lays one table three miles long straight down its biggest street, built entirely from things people were throwing away, and twenty thousand people sit down and eat together to help build a new children's hospital. And in a puddle near you, a creature made of a single tiny blob squeezes down to a quarter of its size about two hundred times faster than you can blink. Scientists have just worked out how: it wears a stretchy net that goes floppy like wet spaghetti and pulls tight. Now they want to copy it to build super fast muscles for machines. Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera take it from there. New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • Geysers Swallow 280 Hats / Five Generations Share One Birthday / A Frog Found by Its Song / Caller from Vietnam: Forty Guests for Breakfast
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: a park full of geysers has swallowed 280 hats this year, along with 36 pairs of sunglasses, 17 pacifiers and six teeth straighteners, and a team of rock scientists went fishing with long grabby poles to get it all back out. Then a family in America where five people in a row, boy girl boy girl boy, were all born on the fourteenth of September, and a great grandma who asked for a baby boy on that exact day and got one. And scientists in a flooded Brazilian rainforest found a brand new frog that looks identical to its neighbours, so they worked out it was new by listening to its slow, lazy song. Plus a caller from Vietnam whose breakfast noodle soup smells so good that forty neighbours turn up at her table every single morning, and one of them now brings his own chair. New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • Crowd Builds a Giant Hot Dog at a Big Game / Library Magazine Returns 132 Years Late / A Reef Thought Dead Is Alive
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: thousands of people at a big game pass a giant blow-up hot dog and a giant blow-up bun over their heads and have thirty five seconds to put them together, and when they do it everybody in the stadium wins a free snack. Then a man called John walks into a library holding a magazine that was borrowed one hundred and thirty two years ago, forty eight thousand days late, with a twelve thousand dollar fine that the library kindly waves away. And for the real science bit, a coral reef off the coast of Benin in West Africa was written off as dead sixty years ago and nobody went back to check, until scientists sent a little underwater robot down with a camera and found the whole reef alive, bright and full of fish. Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera take it from there.

  • Bat Rides the Train in Scotland / A Dutch Town Builds Statues Out of Flowers / Saturn Grows a Ten Sided Shape
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today a little bat with no ticket rides a commuter train through Scotland, flapping over everyone's heads and parking itself on the luggage shelf like a tiny furry suitcase, until a big flag and a waved hat gently show it the door. Then we go to the Dutch town of Zundert, where twenty streets spend a whole year growing flowers, then build statues as tall as a house, cover them in four hundred thousand blooms, and push them down the road to see whose is best. And for our cool true fact, Saturn. The planet with the rings already has a giant six-sided shape made of wind at the top, and scientists have just spotted a brand new ten-sided one at the bottom. Nobody knows why the wind draws straight lines. Hosted by Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera.

  • The World's Skinniest Car / Four Thousand People Pull a Castle / A New Map Fixes Africa's Size / Caller from Poland: Nine Hundred Mushrooms
Say What?! is the news comedy show for kids aged 5 to 10, where three real, strange, true stories get the absurd comedy treatment. Today: a man in Italy rebuilt a car to be just half a metre wide, skinnier than a door, and drives it to fairs to make people laugh. Four thousand volunteers in Hirosaki, Japan moved a 400-ton castle tower by pulling on ropes, eighty at a time, shifting it about one metre a day, and school children got a turn too. Plus the big one: world maps have been drawing Africa far too small for hundreds of years, and the new Equal Earth map finally shows every place at its real size. Africa is fourteen times bigger than Greenland. And it is Friday, so we have a caller: Zofia from Poland went mushroom picking for one hour and came home with nine hundred mushrooms. There are mushrooms in the bath, mushrooms in both shoes, and one sitting on the cat. Pip, Grump, Brad and Vera have a fix.
