Scanline Talks

The sampler of anime discussion continues! This is the second of two podcasts covering Recovery of an MMO Junkie, an anime about MMO gaming and the ways we express ourselves through games. In case you’re seeing this before the other episode: you should really listen to this podcast first, as the one you’re on now is a followup to that one! With this, our discussion of Recovery of an MMO Junkie is done, as is this little sampler.

If you like what you’ve heard: there is more! Over on our Patreon, you can find more episodes of Oops All Anime, debuting every Monday! We’ve tackled Ancient Magus Bride, Little Witch Academia, and more, with new shows and exciting new guests and friends joining us all the time! For a dollar a month, you can get in on the action. Please consider supporting us, and helping us build more things! And even if you decide not to, thanks for at least giving it a listen =)

Hello out there all you free souls, clamoring for adventure! You know what’s the greatest adventure of all? Anime.

…Wow, can I start over. God. Uhm, so, we have a Patreon! Hopefully you knew that. That Patreon mostly is just like a tip jar, to help us expand our coverage… but there is one piece of exclusive content. It’s our weekly anime tryout podcast, Oops All Anime! We talk about the first few episodes of various anime, usually with a guest, and our thoughts! It’s really fun, we’re having a great time with it. Anyway, this is a little sampler of that show: one of two podcasts we recorded with friend Andy discussing Recovery of an MMO Junkie.

Both of those podcast episodes are free: if you like this, there’s a lot more like it on our Patreon! For just $1 a month you can get access to that feed. Chew on that idea, while you listen to this preview of what the show is all about.

Jen’s finally gotten around to Yakuza Zero right as Six digs into Yakuza Kiwami, so the two sit down with mics to talk about the Yakuza series! Six is a series vet, Jen’s a newcomer, but both have strong thoughts about the strengths and weaknesses of the open-world crime drama games.

You can find Six on Twitter at @SixTwoSixFour, and Jen at @jbu3

The name may invoke a forest full of fear, but young adult anxiety is the true terror here! Jen and Six dive deep on Night in the Woods, a narrative game from developer Infinite Fall. Dare you enter Possum Springs, and learn its dark secrets- like why I am trying to make this sound like a scary campfire story? You don't stand a ghost of a chance of figuring it out, because it's really not super germane to the game that we really liked quite a lot!

OoooOoOoooOoooOo!

Jen and Colin teamed up with special guest Andy to discuss The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild! Sharkboys, rainstorms, criminally underdeveloped society, and mecha elephants! Would the game be better with no dungeons at all, and just shrines? Why can’t we just talk to the monsters? We don’t really discuss that last one but listen anyway!
