17: Why the law of attraction ISN’T working for you
Melissa coaches and teaches the law of attraction - it's the ONLY thing she asks each client to incorporate each day. In doing so, she has discovered 4 common mistakes that prevent people from accessing the power of the law of attraction. Come hear what the LOA is and why it might not be working for you.
About this podcast:
Grief, Guts & Smoothies. These three things changed my life – they might change yours too. Each episode we abandon our comfort zones to get a little gutsy and hold space to grow into stronger versions of ourselves.
In 2014, the birth of my daughter Leyden changed my entire world. Four months later, grief shattered it. I was broken, scared, lost, angry and hopeless. I didn’t want to live and wasn’t really sure how to.
I sought every means to “fight” grief: researching, joining parent groups, and I even traveled outside of the country twice, to hear world-renowned grief speaker Dr. Raymond Moody.
Disappointed, I discovered like all adversities in life, there is no way to “beat” grief. But, thankfully, there were effective strategies I could employ when navigating such choppy waters. Whether it was understanding the gut-brain connection, or getting gutsy in my ability to face discomfort, the tools I learned, truly saved my life.
There are not nearly enough resources to support each other through uncomfortable challenges – be it loss of a job, a relationship, a sense of self…or life. Talking about uncomfortable things, well that takes guts. And we are going to get really gutsy here.

Left with 3 young girls to raise, a heavy weight of grief and grinding in a corporate job that wasn't aligned with her vision, she took a scary leap to shift her juicing from distributing them to neighbors from her kitchen to opening a store and making health more widely accessible. Free from counting calories (or any fad diet) she shares how holistic health played a major role in her grief journey and advice to anyone apprehensive of green juices or career changes!

This week Melissa interviews her other half, Mooch (Christina Muccio) who is her best friend and business partner. Mooch opens up about her own grief journey and how that has impacted her values and aspirations. The two share the story of how they met, their belief in "power of potential" and the many ways in which they both felt right away that they were connected at a deeper level. Mooch and Mel strongly believe in the power of signs and share one very significant one to them - which they happen to accidentally unravel another layer to while talking on the show.

Jacqui Bonwell shares advice incredibly poignant for anyone feeling stuck in their current life situation or career. With insight on her transformation from an over-caffeinated, Marlboro Red loving social worker in Ireland to a renowned yoga instructor, workshop presenter and teacher trainer (and green smoothie drinker), there was one constant - leading with a desire to help others. And there was also major change, transitioning away from muscling through life, trusting the universe and manifesting her life situation. Jacqui and Melissa will both be speaking at Yoga Reaches Out New England, the details and importance of this event raising money for Boston Children's Hospital are covered - join us!

Each year around Leyden’s anniversary, I speak to my congregation at Arlington Street Church. In this talk, I reflect on how shame is contributing to deaths all around us. I talk about how shame can close us in a bubble, and when we begin to exist outside that bubble, how our world can crumble if we don’t learn to deal with shame. And I close with steps you can take to rise above others shame directed at you.
