Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast

This week we go boldly where no scuttlebutt has gone before. Ro and guest @CaptainFoley break down their top 3 classic Star Trek episodes of the original series. Only three seasons of original Trek, but so many great episodes. This discussion takes us on a five-year mission to boldly talk about what some of our favorite Trek episodes are and why. Lots of honorable mentions, some we both agree with and some not so much. PLUS, our pal The Max Reebo Experience does his best on this week's Sentry Mode Quiz. Will he get high marks? Tune in and see.

Big thanks to all the new followers and new Star Trek friends who joined us on Scarif Live last weekend when we recorded this episode and for the new friends who started following us on the socials. Come back for more nerdy talk. Remember to bring your phaser and your sunscreen, because it's always sunny on Ceti Alpha Five!

Ro and Brad share a birthday one day apart, but tonight YOU get the presents with a special #ScarifLive birthday stream and some Star Wars hot takes. Because we all know the internet needs more Star Wars hot takes!

Our final takes on the Star Wars Disney series Skeleton Crew with guests Nic from the Back Yard Tardis and the crew of the Science Fictionary Podcast. Our thoughts, our takes, what surprised us and more. Bring your good natured comments and be prepared to discuss some of the things you liked or disliked about the series. That's the scuttlebutt!

There has been some talk about mixing genres, as you know, my disdain for comedy in sci-fi. How about horror and sci-fi? It's kind of a natural fit. Join our discussion this week with Domonic Riley as the talks pivot towards the unknown. Just in time for an ALIENS anniversary!

PLUS, Ro answers some listener voicemails. Thanks to everyone who calls the Scuttlebutt Hotline at 773-234-8659. We love hearing your thoughts and comments. Remember to give our guests a follow and let them know you heard them here on the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast.

Ro gets together with fellow collector Ray (@Tresob) to talk exit strategy. What do we do with all this junk? We've all spent some time amassing our own Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse full of collectibles, but have we learned to be more precise or disciplined in our purchases? We've spent decades buying stuff we love, but why, and what happens towards the end? A very poignant and fascinating discussion. We reference two articles that talk about just that, which we'll post below. Take a read and tell us what you think. It's a discussion where we seem to psychoanalyze each other into seeing if indeed we have a 'problem'. Hope you enjoy this discussion.

LIVE from Chicago, Brad travels to the inner planets to see the newest #StarWars movie on the big screen, but to quote Kyle Newman's Fanboys movie, what if it sucks? Join the guys in their post movie screening discussion full of spoilers, so be warned. We hope you watch it for yourselves and come back to discuss our takes on the newest movie on the big screen in 7 years. NOTE: The give-aways within this stream have already been done. But we're always giving stuff away, so there's another chance soon!

With summer right around the corner, we sit down and discuss how the summer blockbuster phenomenon started and how it has fared in modern times. Ro and Nick discuss it's early years and how certain directors changed the landscape of tent pole films like Star Wars, Jurassic Park and the early king of summer blockbusters Jaw! While getting together to record an episode on Summer Blockbusters with Nick from NickFlix Podcast, we started a warm up discussion which turned into this. We had some good stuff to say and discuss prior to the main topic, having the Mando Summer movie in mind, our talk weaved in and out of summer blockbusters to our thoughts on the franchise as a whole when it comes to how the Mandalorian series is still connected to the Skywalker saga and more. Take a listen and tell us what you think.
