It’s commencement week on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - so we would like to revisit a class for storytellers called “Rising Rock.” Billy Weeks is the lecturer in communication who teaches it. Tj Tate says “businesses and nonprofits are like ecosystems.” She brings nearly twenty years of work in sustainability to her new role as director of partnerships at green|spaces, the environmental nonprofit here in Chattanooga.

Middle school students at Howard Connect Academy here in Chattanooga are learning robotics. They work on a remotely operated vehicle, which they navigate in an indoor pool in their own classroom. Tennessee Valley Robotics is partnering with the Hamilton County Schools to bring the robotics curriculum into every school over the next five years.

Charles H. Coolidge was the last living recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor from the European theater in World War II - and he was the only one to receive the medal during the war. Last week, Coolidge - born and raised on Signal Mountain - died at the age of 99. Services are set for tomorrow at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Two years ago, Linda Moss Mines - the Chattanooga and Hamilton County historian told his story here on “Scenic Roots.”
