In this latest episode of ScHARR Chain Reaction podcast Dr Robert Akparibo will be talking to Dr Louise Preston about their role and how they manage their work life balance among other topics.

Louise works as a Senior Research Fellow in HEDS, which she joined in May 2008 as an Information Specialist and is also the Deputy Dean of SCHARR.

Louise works part time, working four days a week and balance research and teaching with leadership activities including the SCHARR Athena SWAN self assessment team co-chair role. 

Louise joined ScHARR in October 2006 as a Research Associate on the Evaluation of Supplementary Prescribing in Nursing and Pharmacy project, based in the Public Health section. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Assistant in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Sheffield.

Louise's interests lie primarily in undertaking evidence reviews of complex interventions, specifically in service delivery areas and in the identification of evidence for reviews. She has led a variety of different reviews for organisations including the HS&DR Evidence Synthesis Centre, the What Works Centre for Wellbeing and the ScHARR Public Health Collaborating Centre and has been involved in a number of publications from this work. Louise has also published on methods relating to searching. From prior research projects, Louise maintains an interest in health services research with a particular interest in information use by patients and carers. Louise obtained her PhD in 2005 from the University of Sheffield. It examined the impact of the MMR vaccine scare on parents in terms of their decision making and information requirements.

In this latest episode of ScHARR Chain Reaction podcast Dr Anju Keetharuth will be talking to Dr Robert Akparibo about their role and how they manage their work life balance among other topics.

Dr. Robert Akparibo is a Senior University Tutor (Associate Professor) in Global Health and Nutrition Epidemiology based within the Section of Public Health, at the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), University of Sheffield.  Prior to joining the ScHARR, the University of Sheffield, Dr Akparibo worked with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Denmark, and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in Ghana, as well as several other international and national NGOs including with Family Health International in Senegal, Hellen Keller International in Burkina Faso, and the Association of Faith-based Development NGOs in Northern Ghana. During this period, he led the design and delivery of cost effective maternal and child health and nutrition interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers and children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In this latest episode of ScHARR Chain Reaction podcast Molly Girvan will be talking to Anju Keetharuth about their role and how they manage their work life balance among other topics.

Anju joined HEDS as a health economist in November 2010. After her doctorate in development economics, Anju worked as a trade policy adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade in Fiji (Overseas Development Institute Fellow). She then worked as an Economic Affairs Officer researching foreign direct investment at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Anju has also been teaching economics at the University of Sheffield. Prior to joining HEDS, she was employed as an Economic Adviser at the Department of Health in the Choice Analysis and Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs) team.

Anju's research interests include outcome measurement, psychometrics, economic evaluation and current health policy analysis including PROMs. She is also interested in economic evaluation of mental health policies and community services. Anju is also a yoga teacher in her spare time and interested in researching how yoga can improve the health of the population.

Molly joined ScHARR in September 2021 after working in a customer service/operations role for a not for profit organisation for several years and had recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Psychology from Birkbeck UoL. Molly oined the Research Hub team in ScHARR as a Research Support Officer, working alongside Rosie Lynch and the Hub Manager, Vicky Madden.

In this episode of ScHARR Chain Reaction podcast Ric Campbell talks to Jess Welburn about their role and how they manage their work life balance, amongst other topics.

Jess joined the School of Health and Related Research in October 2014 as a Clerical Officer on the Nourishing Start for Health project. In 2016 they joined the Clinical Trials Unit (CTRU) as a Trial Support Officer where they provided support to the ASPECT and OPTION-DM Trials.

They are currently working as the CTRU Research Support Officer providing costing support to the unit.

Ric joined ScHARR in 2010 working on projects in MCRU before moving to do data management in CTRU. In 2019 he joined CURE as a data specialist with a focus on routine health data. Ric graduated from University of Sheffield in 2008 with a BSc in Maths and Computer Science, and completed a Masters in Public Health during his time at ScHARR.

Ellen has also worked for the NIHR Research Design Service Yorkshire and the Humber (RDS-YH) and in the Cancer Clinical Trials Centre, Sheffield.
