On this week’s episode, Ashley and Marcy talk sexuality. Sexuality is defined as one’s capacity for sexual feels toward another; basically your sexuality defines who you’re attracted to sexually and romantically. These days it’s a cute quip to say “sexuality is fluid,” but what does that mean for two self-identified straight women. How do the way we were raised, our faith, and our encounters with past partners impact how we define ourselves sexually. Join Ashley and Marcy as we dive into the rigid walls of straightness and explore if it’s time for us to loosen up.

On this week’s episode Marcy and Ashley talk preconceived notions, judging a book by its cover, and fair warnings. People say that when you first meet someone, you’re not meeting them but you’re meeting their “representative.” Very few of us really put our genuine selves out there for the world to see. Instead we slowly expose our real selves, our flaws, and everything we keep behind our masks. But if we were to tell the truth, how would people see us? If we came with a warning label, what would it say about us, and how would others respond to us based on that? Listen as we explore our own warning labels, the traits that we hide, and whether we should be more transparent and just provide people with proper warning.

Self improvement is a way of life for many of us as we constantly strive to advance, level up, and grow personally and professionally. But is this culture full of motivational quotes, self help resources, and quips becoming more overwhelming than actually inspiring? Surrounding ourselves with personal improvement guides and mantras can become the goal, instead of the doing the work to improve or taking the responsibility to practice and apply the lessons. Join us as we talk about upgrading ourselves, our partners, and our lifestyles in a raw, real, and authentic way. We talk what’s worked, what hasn’t, and how you can upgrade too.

Personal and professional development don’t usually occur in isolation. They require resources, feedback, and instruction, which is why having a mentor is critical. But finding someone you can connect with, who has the necessary expertise, and most importantly, has the time to mentor, is a daunting task. Once you find that person, you have to be ready to answer their tough questions such as ‘what do you want out of this relationship, how can I help you reach your goals, and what's in it for me?’ In this episode you’ll hear from Marcy and Ashley both long time mentors (and mentees) about the importance of mentoring, finding a good match, and nurturing the relationship so that you both get the most out of it.

Both of us have been accused of being a little bougie; maybe it's the Ph.D.'s, or maybe the Pink and Green, or it could be the confidence we exude when we walk into a room. Regardless of the reasons, on this week’s episode we explore our behaviors, what they say about our views on class, race and feminist ideals, and how we manage these bougie, learned behaviors to create inclusive communities.

We all have a tendency to allow stereotype-confirming thoughts to pass spontaneously through our minds, and doing so is called implicit bias. It’s what tells us to run when we’re being chased or to swallow when we have something in our mouth. In harmless situations, this bias can be positive; however, when it comes to racism, sexism, classism, ableism, anti-Semitism, ageism and heterosexism, those involuntary conclusions or overgeneralizations can lead to discrimination. If you've ever found yourself leading a group toward the stairs, without considering everyone’s mobility or if you've disregarded a teenager’s opinion before hearing their legitimate answer, then like us, you’ve been guilty and this episode is for you. Listen as we discuss the power and privilege of bias and how we're fighting to rid ourselves and the world of these harmful behaviors.

On this week's episode Ashley and Marcy talk birth control. The time came when I knew I wanted to have sex. I also knew I couldn't tell my momma. So at the age of fifteen, I had to figure out how to prepare, all on my own. Like any naturally-curious child pre-internet, I asked my big cousin and she told me to go to Planned Parenthood. Before I knew it, I had a patch, condoms, and the freedom to do the momentous thing that I totally wasn't ready for.
Listen in as we discuss the birth control conversation—held either with the voice in our head, a confidant, or a partner—that every woman has had at some point in her life and that we continuously have to decide what is best for ourselves. Whether it’s a patch, a pill, or pulling out, we've all got to decide on a plan for how and when we choose control or birth.
