The data is predictive, Ted argues, because it shapes purchasing decisions: consumers are stocking up, advancing purchases, and might pull back in the future. He thinks the data could push the Fed to keep rates higher for longer. Wyatt said what’s “concerning” about higher expectations around inflation is the threat of “stagflation.”
