Paul, Mary-Jo, Barry, and Delynne discuss how mental health has affected their lives as individuals living with spinal cord injury. Covering topics like stress, anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, body image, and self-confidence issues. They share how they manage their mental health like coping techniques and seeking professional help and support. At the end of the episode, Mary-Jo will guide us through a mindfulness session related to mental health.
Our topic for this 3rd episode is "Caregivers." We will discuss the many different types of home support services and/or agencies that our guest speakers use for example; Live-In Caregiver Program, Choice in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL) program, government home support services, and or agencies, or family/friends. We will also tackle the many challenges that people experience with using these different programs when it comes to their Caregivers.
Episode 2
Host Paul and guest speakers Delynne, Mary-Jo, and Wendy will discuss living with Pain with a spinal cord injury. The different kinds of pain, different ways to deal with, cope with, or treat the pain. As well as how mindfulness can be an important tool to manage pain with your spinal cord injury.
At the end of the episode Mary-Jo, our certified expert, will guide us through a mindfulness session related to Pain and Spinal Cord Injury.
Members of the SCI&U study will discuss what is "Peer Health Coaching" and have a mindfulness session guided by Mary-Jo Fetterly. She is a native of Vancouver, Canada, and a pioneer in the field of adaptive yoga and mindfulness.
