You hear terms like “algebra” and “geometry” and these theories we memorized in high school start to dance a jig in our heads – a jig many of us weren’t overly interested in! But the past decade has seen an explosion of applications of algebra, geometry, and topology to the real world, like their use in creating the computer vision that will merge tomorrow’s vehicles onto the freeways themselves. The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) calls it applied algebra and geometry, and will showcase world-class researchers and their groundbreaking work in the field in its newest journal, SIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry. Learn more about this changing area and journal – launching in 2017 - in this video!
