* From Jen:   This is Jen again, I also was thinking one of the topic’s u could talk about next what about all the different strong female character’s their have been in Scifi/action tv & movie’s!  I know I’ve always felt empowered by them!  My favorite’s are from Xena, Ripley, Sarah Connor, Wonder Woman/Linda Carter’s, & Capt. janeway & also Samantha Carter, etc…!  I could go on and on  They were just awesome!

* Jen –  I just wanted to write in & say I have still been enjoying ur podcast!  This is Jen, from NY!

As for my most dissappointing women in Scifi, I would think 1 would be Kes from ST: Voyager.   I had really liked her in the beginning & was really kind of disappointed where her storyline lead to?!  I know she was another 1 who left I don’t know the reason behind it whether it was cause she didn’t want to act anymore?!

* Same thing goes for Dr. Weir on SGA?!  I really loved her character she was almost like to me another Capt. Janeway!  I felt she was a good strong female character!  & she was another 1 who left?  But I was unclear why she left as well?!  But then I see she still is continuing her acting career as we saw she was in that Stonehenge Apocalypse.  Which wasn’t half bad?!  Lol.  & I look forward to ur interview with her to!     & their was T’Pol to me she was kind of disappointing to me!  She just always seemed 1 note to me!  We kind if already had that drone catsuit with 7of9 & I kind of liked her!  Claire Bennet from Heroes was actually disappointing to me!  Here I thought she was the type that would stand up for the underdog!  But in the end she only became somewhat annoying cause she would only bring everyone out into the open & cause nothing...

Our Interview:

Dominic Keating

Born in Leicester, England, Dominic Keating’s early stage performances led his instructors to single him out as a “bright, young hope.” Nevertheless, his major studies at the University College in London earned him a B.A. with honors in history, not theatre arts. But Keating kept the acting flame alive through the academic years, participating in several University productions and pondering an eventual leap into the professional theatre.

Keating starred in the feature film “Jungle 2 Jungle” opposite Tim Allen and Martin Short. He also appeared in the Oscar-nominated feature film “Almost Famous” (though was cut out of the final edit) and starred with Raquel Welch in “Folle d’elle.” In the “The Hollywood Sign,” he played his first American role opposite Rod Steiger, Burt Reynolds and Tom Berenger. He co-stars in mocku-documentay “Certifiably Jonathan”, about American comedian Jonathan Winters, in “Beowulf” with Angelina Jolie and in the next chapter of a cult film series: “Species IV”. He stars in indie Horror film “Hollywood Kills” as a film director. His most recent outings are “The Ninong” and also Asylum Production’s “Sherlock Holmes” opposite Torchwood’s Gareth David-Lloyd.

All about Christof the author of Leviathan Chronicles

Christof Laputka was born and raised in New York City and loved every second of it. Despite having a career in the financial world, Laputka managed to find time to write short stories, essays, and generally let his imagination wander to the world’s most hidden places and commune with the wildest characters on Earth.

Science fiction is his first love. Laputka grew up on classic sci-fi TV like Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. After embracing his utter geekdom, he discovered podcasting and through it was the coolest way to deliver his message of a dark future with heroic people.

Laputka is also an aspiring travel writer and has hop-scotched around the world trying to find the coolest places for his characters to hide, villians to plot, and adventures to be had. Most of the places featured in The Leviathan Chronicles are based on real locations where the author spent time (with the exception of some of the secret bases). Laputka looks forward to spending the rest of his life exploring every inch of the globe and creating the coolest stories to blow your mind.

Laputka has blogged about his journey around the world on his website, To Boldly Go (http://web.mac.com/claputka/To_Boldly_Go/). He is also finishing a comedic novel called “The Underwear Incident”, describing his crazy years on Wall Street.

Ladies & Gentleman, tonight I am very excited to introduce our guest to you.  I’m a huge fan of this Lady and her work.  For we are talking with the lovely; Ms. Chase Masterson, who’s been named one of the  “50 Sexiest Women” by Femme Fatales Magazine,  on a TV Guide online readers poll she was voted   “Favorite Science Fiction Actress on Television  and AOL named her one of the “Ten Sexiest Aliens” in television history.

Her work has included guest roles on such popular shows such ER and Sliders and has lent her voice talents to the animated movie Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. What some of you may not know, is that Ms. Masterson is also a talented recording artist and a producer, which we’ll talk about later.  However, you the fans probably best know Ms. Masterson for playing the vivacious & adorable “Leeta” from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Not only that, but she’s done her part in supporting our troops overseas by taking part in the USO tours and helping out in own country as well.

* Another view on Shore Leave 32: Someone who’s been attending since 1999 – Feedback talking about the friendliness of the con. I’ve watched it change over the years and it really felt a lot more fun and fan-oriented 10 years ago. Now it really just seems more about raking in money. Maybe it’s friendly to celebrities, guests, and presenters, but I find the attitude towards paying customers gets worse every year. Indeed, if it wasn’t for the big meet-the-authors shindig on Friday nights, I’d be looking at getting a Saturday-only badge so I could catch up with friends and go to the STARFLEET meeting… or just not going at all.

Larry Doyle was born on planet earth. He is a primate.

Doyle has wandered through a checkered writing career that has seen him reporting on the early AIDS epidemic and the Challenger explosion, doing comic strips and editing magazines, writing for the best television show of all time, and scripting extremely expensive movies that lose gobs of money. He currently makes his living writing screenplays and writes for magazines whenever he can afford it.

He has written two novels: I Love You, Beth Cooper, and Go, Mutants!, both of which are available for purchase.

Doyle lives in Baltimore with his wife Becky, their three children and one dog, until it dies, and then no more dogs, according to the wife. The wife’s sister is married to Campbell McGrath, the famous poet who won a MacArthur Super Genius Gra...
