film, Star Trek: Nemesis. The series focuses on the adventures of the crew of the USS Phoenix, an

Ascension Class starship designated as NCX-101138.

The Phoenix is 1400 meters long and boasts a crew of more than 10,000 Starfleet officers and personnel

representing other Federation Military branches. She is a hybrid design featuring a never-before-seen

partial fusion of Federation and Romulan technology and is the largest Federation Starship seen to date

in Star Trek.

The Interview:

Mira Furlan appeared on the stage in New York and Los Angeles. She has released an album, Songs From Movies That Have Never Been Made. Furlan played Minbari Ambassador Delenn for all five seasons of Babylon 5 and some of the associated TV movies. Until recently she could be seen playing the character Danielle Rousseau in the ABC television series Lost.

A leading actress of theatre, film and TV in the former Yugoslavia, Mira Furlan emigrated to the US with her husband Goran Gajic in November 1991, due to the intolerable political circumstances in her homeland. Ms. Furlan starred in the Warner Brothers TV-series Babylon 5 as Ambassador Delenn (Sci-Fi Universe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Genre TV-series 1996 and 1997).

Her other American credits include the TV-movie My Antonia directed by J. Sargent, the title roles in Sophocles Antigone at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Los Angeles (Dramalogue Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance in 1995) and Lorca’s Yerma at The Indiana Repertory Theat...

Carter, captain of the USS Farragut.) and Mike Bednar (Mike is a producer of the live-action version of Starship Farragut, prop maker and plays Commander Robert (RT) Tacket, first officer of the Farragut and long-time friend of Captain Carter.)  They discuss their upcoming releases and the animated episode that they have been releasing in the style of the 1970s animated Star Trek; true to their mantra “Bringing Classic Trek Now.”

Tonight on menu, we serve up a wonderful interview with Lee Arenberg from the three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and Star Trek.  We give away a signed print by him in our trivia this week. In news, Legend of the Seeker is CANCELED.  We’ll talk about Riverworld, the 3D Alien Prequals, The Green Lantern Movie, Avatar DVD news, and Dayton Ward’s new book “Counterstrike.” Miles gives us “This Week in Star Trek” what we’re calling TWIST.  We round out the show with Kevin Bachelder from Tuning into SciFi TV giving us his SciFi Five in Five.

The Interview:

We sat down with Lee Arenberg at the Farpoint Con in Maryland.  He shared about many things including his thoughts on the acting industry, his work on Star Trek, and of course his work in the three Pirates of the Caribbean movies.  Below is a little write up from his website:

Lee Arenberg has the remarkable ability to morph himself into frightening aliens, twisted psychotherapists, lascivious entertainment executives and everything in between. Most frequently referred to as a character actor, Arenberg maintains a flourishing acting career — almost 20 years spanning television, stage and film.

He received many accolades for his part of Pintel in The Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl. Pirates, which was the highest grossing live-action movie of 2003, is now out on DVD. Lee’s Diary of a Pirate is a special feature on Disc 2, along with the blooper reel and other special features.

Lee has appeared in more than 30 movies, including Cradle Will Rock, Robocop 3, Waterworld, Bob Roberts, The Apocalypse, Cross My Heart and others including fantasty adventure feature Dungeons & Dragons.

Currently shooting the sequels (yes, that’s plural) to POTC, Lee appears in the animated feature

Most of us found Farscape on Syfy, but the show didn’t launch there, remember? Those lucky enough to live in a land down under got the jump on U.S. viewers, because John Crichton first went through the wormhole when the series debuted on Australia’s Nine Network March 19, 1999.

The Secrets of Firefly’s Shepherd Book Will Finally Be Revealed

Shepherd Book, possibly the most mysterious character on Joss Whedon’s ill-fated space-western Firefly is to star in in a comic book that will finally let us in on his past.

A character with a mysterious past is hardly a new idea for Joss Whedon, by Firefly’s Shepherd Book was a particularly good one. Played by Ron Glass, the Shepherd – the term used for men of the cloth on the show – clearly had not been a God’s servant all his life, and some pretty high-level connections with the Alliance. What made the mystery extra-potent however was that the show got cancelled, and we never got to find out what his mysterious past actually was.

All that is about to change though, as a new comic book, entitled The Shepherd’s Tale, is coming out that will finally cast some light on the preacher’s colorful life.
