SciFi4Me: Live From the Bunker

Many many moons ago, a man named Bram Stoker wrote a story about a vampire. And it's had such an impact on the horror scene ever since. Now, a man named Clint Stoker (and yes, he's a relative) is about to deliver a fresh interpretation of the classic tale in a new comic book.

So, this is the week Obi-Wan Kenobi returns to our screens with a new story. And we have a new trailer for Thor's upcoming movie. And the first season of HALO has come to an end. And THE ORVILLE is about to debut its third season on Hulu. And STRANGER THINGS will drop new episodes this week, too. This comes after a number of casting announcements for DOCTOR WHO.
And it's all pretty meaningless, really.

The Cancel Cult strikes again!Over the weekend, the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America held their annual Nebula Awards, and like a lot of things related to the SF "Literati" there was some... controversy. Apparently, Mercedes Lackey -- the recipient of the Damon Knight Grand Master Award -- said something, and it was enough to get her removed from the event.

So, earlier this week we got an article in Vanity Fair, in which details emerged regarding the upcoming STAR WARS shows on Disney+ and the fate of some movie projects. But there were other items of note -- mainly the fact that it appears to have a bit of revisionist history in the works.

This is not anything new, but it's certainly becoming a thing. And it's not likely to be a good thing in the long run.  Marvel has just made a deal to bring Stan Lee back, licensing his likeness for future projects.
This will go well, right?

Prequel after prequel after prequel... From THE HUNGER GAMES to STAR WARS to Harry Potter to WALKER, TEXAS RANGER and all points in between, we're getting an overdose of prequels. Do we need  them? Is this another legacy of George Lucas? Do they enhance or detract from the original stories?

Yeah, this was supposed to be a "dark week" with no show, but the Russell T. Davies and the BBC made this little announcement over the weekend, something about a new doctor...
Oh, wait. A new Doctor.Ncuti Gatwa has been revealed to be the 14th incarnation of the Time Lord, and it seems that he might be saying some of the right things. But there are still questions. Who is he?

Have you ever participated in the National Novel Writing Month? Always great to hang out with other authors and wanna-be authors, talking plot and setting and characters and abortion...
Wait. What?
NaNoWriMo has sent out an e-mail in response to the leaked opinion draft from the Supreme Court. This organization dedicated to encouraging people to write novels -- which, on the face of it, isn't a political action -- is now advocating in favor of Roe v. Wade. This is sure to encourage a lot of authors, right?
Also, Bungie has done the same thing. More are sure to follow. One wonders if they heard about this corporation with a mouse for a mascot...

It's our first Monday of the month, which means we talk MONEY!Today on the program, we're looking at the stock price of The Walt Disney Company. Will it drop below $100 per share this week? What does the departure of their chief communications guy do for their public perception? How low can this all go?

There's a lot of news coming out of CinemaCon, the conference for movie theater chain owners, and some of it serves to reinforce that WarnerMedia Discovery's boss David Zaslav has a bit of a dilemma on his hands: promoting the current DC film projects while facing the prospect of completely changing it all.
How do you solve a problem like the DCEU?
