- He often refreshed Paul and was not ashamed of Paul’s imprisonment. We should be eager to help those doing God’s word.

- He was a faithful servant of God alongside Paul.

- He was a faithful servant and an encourager.

- Acts 20:28 – Feed the Elders were over one church.

- Alexander Campbell and others started the American Christian Missionary Society in 1849, which pooled the funds of many churches together under the leadership of a board of directors.
- In the mid-1900s, a similar apostasy happened in the form of sponsoring churches.
- Congregational independence is scriptural.

- Congregational independence is effective.

- Philippians 4:15-16 – Everyone was able to hear God’s Word without a centralized structure.

- Congregational independence is a safety measure.

- Barnabas was very generous. He sold his own land and gave the proceeds to the apostles to help others.
- We can also encourage others by helping the needy.

- Barnabas was willing to vouch for Paul when others were afraid of him.
- We have to be ready to vouch for others when we see they have turned back to God.

- Barnabas was sent to Antioch to encourage the church there. He was willing to accept the fact that the gospel was for all and helped spread it even further.
- Barnabas was a good man and was full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.
- We should also be encouragers and be full of faith.
