Regardless of experience or qualifications, recreational divers need to know they can rely on a good buddy above and below the water. Marcus shares his behind-the-scenes tales of buddy allocation, Louise explains how the wrecks of iconic dive site Scapa Flow could be granted new protection status and birthday-boy Ian reminisces about his old Ford Escort.

Following a long winter off-season the Scuba Confidential team are shining a light on dive equipment maintenance. Our special guest this episode is equipment technician and biscuit-fan Duncan Baldwin, who drops by to offer his regulator care tips. Louise explains why beaked whales are getting anxiety, Marcus tells us about one of his nautical nightmares and Ian wonders why his regulators have an odd aroma.

After the media hype surrounding the ‘Great White encounter’, featured in episode ten, we welcome back research scientist and friend of the show Samantha Jane Howlett. As well as providing her opinion on the story, Samantha provides the team with some fun animal facts and conundrums! Plus, Louise explains how underwater robots in Australia are helping deliver coral babies.

You’re a qualified diver but now you need your own kit. What’s the best mask? Are split fins right for you? BCD or wing? The team explains how you can choose wisely when scuba shopping. One of our patrons , Fern, pops by for a chat (and a surprise cake!), we discuss Great White shark close encounters and Ian gives us a dive gear history lesson.

The Christmas Episode Part 2 is here. Marcus, Ian and Lou have a special guest on the show - Samantha Jane Howlett. Samantha is a research scientist based in Moorea, French Polynesia. We learn about her project working with Reef Services. In addition, we speak about healthy wildlife interactions (and getting Narked Off!) and Samantha teaches the Scuba Confidential gang how to secure free accommodation in Cyprus and offers some handy French language tips!
