We all used to live by a set of principles

Some used religion, others defined their own

If you have a principle of not stealing, then when an opportunity to steal comes up, your principle will outweigh your urge to steal

People used to have a set of principles - drummed into us by parents, teachers, society

We've discarded having principles. We now have no principles

We now just decide in the moment what do to, and we just typically do what best for us in that moment. If we have the opportunity to steal, we steal. If we have the opportunity to cheat, we cheat.

We all need to get back to each having a set of solid principles

Let's get principled

Our kids have been taught that situation ethics is OK

This makes us inconsistent in our actions

That job is probably beneath the skills of a human being

Driving, for example, is too mindless for humans. We can do so much more

Smart AI should be able to replace drivers

Humans are amazing – why are we wasting our time doing things our machines can do better?

Why are we wasting our immense brainpower doing dull, repetitive work?

We should get paid to think

AI and humans will share the work. Each of us is better suited to different work

Maybe creativity is human, and editing is AI?

• The content is crappier for humans - and the requirements keep changing

Numbers are regularly served to you by talking head and social media without context

For example, in my county, as of TODAY, there are:

6951 cases (which could be overblown as the same person is counted if they take multiple tests)

174 deaths (which may or may not be COVID-19 caused)

Sounds bad, right. But the numbers are out of context:

The population of my county: 2M

Chances of getting it: 0.34% (one-third of one percent)

Chances of dying from it: 0.0087% (one-one-hundredth of one percent)

Chances of dying in a car accident: 1%

Therefore the chances of dying in a car accident are 114 times the chances of dying by COVID-19

DOES THIS JUSTIFY THE FINANCIAL LOSSES WE ARE TAKING?
