Today on the Dividing Line I took the time to review and refute the accusations published nearly a decade ago in Interpretation by D.H. Williams relating to his very poor reading of my chapter in the Soli Deo Gloria book and his provision of a footnote in which he made some negative comments. This footnote had been recently posted by a convert to Rome, so I decided to examine it. Of course, someone else could have done that and realized the accusations were not overly weighty, but—well, you know why folks like a convert to Roman Catholicism wouldn’t do that. Anyway, that took the first half hour, and involved a discussion of Athanasius and his view of authority. Then we went back to Steve Ray and his “verses” he never saw as a Baptist on the topic of the Eucharist.

How much control does God really have over His creation? The issue of Theodicy seems to haunt the church as a whole as it struggles with difficult passages in scripture that cause us confusion over what we believe about God's hand in this world and how he uses 'means' for his glory. Too often God is viewed as some sort of 'butler in the sky' that needs to respond to our every beck and call. This program will challenge this presumptive view with passages of scripture that are meant to give mankind a proper attitude toward his creator.

Wrapping up his series on Sola Scriptura, James covers what is perhaps the most important passage on the subject.

James shows how the early fathers were anything but 'Roman' in their beliefs. Instead he shows how the fathers viewed the scriptures and how the scriptures were the ultimate authority in their faith.

James responds to Roman Catholic attacks on his article published in the CRI Journal. Follow the link above to read the original article.

How does the christian know that the scriptures are God breathed? How are we to answer the Roman Catholic who believes that Vatican is the final authority over the christian life?

James shows how the teachings of Jesus show us how the scriptures alone are the sole infallible rule of faith for the church.
