God tells John to measure the temple and the altar and leave the outer court to the nations. The measured temple is the church, Christ is its altar, and the measuring line divides elect from non-elect. The horrors of the present are a prelude to the end, and the sweetness of the gospel is worth the bitterness of persecution.
