  • 3 How to Read the Signs of the End – Mark 13:5-8
What does Jesus want Christians to think when wars, earthquakes, famines, persecution, and false teachers dominate the headlines? In Mark 13:5-8, Jesus gives His disciples a crucial warning: "Watch out that no one deceives you," and "do not be alarmed." He describes a period called the "beginning of pains"—a time when His followers will face deception, disasters, and persecution while continuing the mission of preaching the gospel to the nations. In this study of Mark 13:5-8, we examine what Jesus meant by the beginning of pains and whether these events point to the destruction of Jerusalem, the Second Coming, or an unfolding prophetic process that began in the first century and continues until Christ returns. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. • Christ the Reigning King
Pastor Mark Hogan teaches on Psalm 110 as the most significant messianic psalm, using Jesus' question to the Pharisees to prove the Messiah is David's Lord, not merely his son. He expounds verses 1-2, showing that the command to "sit at my right hand" signifies Christ's heavenly enthronement, fulfilled at his ascension and exaltation as cited in Acts and Ephesians. The "until" attached to his reign reveals an inaugurated kingdom—Christ rules from heaven now while enemies persist until final judgment, echoing 1 Corinthians 15 and Hebrews 10. God extends Christ's kingly scepter from Zion through gospel proclamation and Church building (Matthew 16, 28; Acts 2), demonstrating his rule even while Satan and persecuting powers remain active. The practical application is that believers should have joyful optimism and confidence in Christ's current enthronement while expecting opposition as normal. He also calls believers to hope, believing that Psalm 110:1's "until" guarantees that all enemies, including death, will ultimately be vanquished.

  • 064 For They Are Not All Israel Which Are Israel (Romans 9:6-8)
Paul has been discussing the Israelites who, as a nation in the flesh has NOT been replaced by the Church… but now clarifies that not every circumcised (or biological) Jew is "of Israel" in the eternal sense. this basic truth is misunderstood by some while misrepresented by others in an effort to teach Replacement Theology. The everlasting covenant to Israel AND eternal promises to the Church are separate but also reserved only to true believers. • When God's Wisdom Leaves the Church
The sermon addresses the persistent issue of division within the church, tracing it back to a reliance on human preferences rather than divine revelation. It emphasizes that God's wisdom is not discoverable through human intellect but is revealed solely by the Holy Spirit to believers. The speaker argues that recognizing salvation as an act of grace should foster humility and prevent members from elevating personal convictions above biblical truth. By contrasting worldly reasoning with the mind of Christ, the text urges the congregation to submit their opinions to Scripture to restore unity. Ultimately, true revival depends on believers surrendering pride and allowing God's wisdom to govern their relationships.
