Why do we worship on Sunday if the Sabbath is on Saturday? Throughout the world, the vast majority of Christian denominations hold worship services on Sunday. However, if you ask professing Christians what caused Sabbath worship to move from the last day of the week to the first, most would either say the Sabbath is unrelated to Sunday worship or point to tradition. But there are important biblical reasons why the Sabbath changed from Saturday to Sunday. It's important first of all because Christ said that if you teach someone to disobey one of the least commandments, you will be least in the kingdom of heaven and the Sabbath is one of the ten commandments. But it's important because the Sabbath is about the rest we have in Christ. It is the day our risen Lord provides for his people so that they can be set apart from the world and all its cares, and go forth to do the work that Christ's atonement made possible. Some of the confusion surrounding the Sabbath is related to a misunderstanding of Israel's place in scripture. Israel's whole calendar was built around Passover and Pentecost and their observance and the Sabbaths around them were set every year based on the day of the week , but because Israel and their observances were a type pointing forward to Christ and his fulfillment, all of their Passovers and Pentecosts and their calendar that changed yearly were nothing more than shadows. There has only been one Passover that caused sins to be forgiven. There has been only one Pentecost where the Spirit of God inhabited his people. And their fulfillment caused the Sabbath to be set from that day forth. Please join us as we consider this important topic.

Some call the Bible just a book of fairy tales, some call it a bronze age book that cannot be trusted. The clock is ticking and the calendar pages are turning as we approach the November 3rd election, one week from today. What's on the ballot? It's socialism vs. capitalism. Abortion vs life. The primary work of the Holy Spirit as defined by Jesus in John 16, is to reprove the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Nowhere does the Scripture teach that the work or evidence of the Holy Spirit is to generate emotional excitement or supernatural displays. Many modern church practices, such as an emphasis on speaking in tongues or intense emotional responses, are misidentified as the Spirit's work and may instead be deceptive, fleshly, or even the work of Satan. 1 John 4:1 tells us "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." The work of the Spirit of God will always direct attention to Jesus Christ. True salvation is evidenced by a surrendered life to Christ's lordship and a conviction that only His righteousness can save - not by excitement and emotionalism, and what appear to be supernatural happenings. The exaltation of Christ is the ultimate proof of the Holy Spirit's presence.

In this chapter, I want to look at the first aspect of God‟s judgment – God‟s justice in putting things right. Scripture certainly makes it clear that God is the God of justice, the one who is just, the one who puts things right. Moreover, God plainly set out what this means when he starkly contrasted his justice to the injustice displayed by Israel, his old-covenant people. As Moses declared: I will proclaim the name of the LORD; ascribe greatness to our God! The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. [In contrast,] they [God‟s old-covenant people] have dealt corruptly with him; they are no longer his children because they are blemished; they are a crooked and twisted generation. Do you thus repay the LORD, you foolish and senseless people? (Deut. 32:3-6).

I know! I know! A few months ago I published what was to be my final volume. And I said as much. Moreover, after having made a supreme effort to finish that work before the sand had completely dropped through the glass, I did spend a couple of weeks, as it were, drawing breath. But then... but then... I felt I had to take up my laptop and mouse once again, and set about writing the book which is in your hand. At the start, I was determined to write only a booklet. Another good intention bites the dust!

With Election Day just two weeks away, we must be fully cognizant that life vs death, pro-life vs. pro-abortion is on the ballot. Those we elect to office and the ideals they hold will determine what type of policies advance, one to protect life, another to take life. Furthermore, a number of states have a referendum question on the ballot, a constitutional amendment which some states are seeking to enshrine abortion in their state constitution. Jim quoted from an article from LifeNews.com dated October 14, 2026. The article states, "House Democrats' health care working group handed House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries an 84-page playbook to run if they seize control in November. It maps out what they plan to do in their first 100 hours if they take back control of Congress. At the top of their list? Abortion. In their own words, they want to 'Reestablish a federal right to abortion care and end restrictions that prevent people covered through federal health programs from receiving abortion coverage.' In other words, abortion-on-demand nationwide, and you pay for it." In other words, some will literally be voting whether or not to add life or abortion to their state constitution.
