  • Faithful Church Ministry in Turbulent Times
Pastor Wayne Van Gelderen, Jr., is senior pastor at Falls Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls. Under his leadership, several hundred members have been trained to serve the Lord and are engaged in ministry. He also started Falls Baptist Academy High School and Baptist College of Ministry & Theological Seminary to train the next generation of laborers for the harvest field. He's the speaker on the radio broadcasts, The Bible Stands and On to Victory, and this week is celebrating 40 years of ministry on VCY and also at this church. At VCY America, our main purpose in bringing glory to God, is "to serve as a resource for and extension of the Church of Jesus Christ, God's chosen agency, partnering with local churches in reaching the lost, edifying the body of Christ, and advancing the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by every biblically legitimate and effective means." God ordained the establishment, the work and the ministry of the local church. Many times on our Friday News Roundup we have stated that the Lord's Day is coming and trust you'll be in a Bible-believing, Bible teaching local church. It's important we do that even as the writer of Hebrews stated, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Indeed, believers in Christ are to come together in worship and glorifying God, in using the talents and gifts He has blessed us with, in encouraging believers, and in giving to support the ministry and outreach of the church.

  • The Gospel Trumpet
This sermon interprets Isaiah 27:13 as a prophetic picture of the gospel age, focusing on the restoration of lost sinners through the preaching of Christ. The preacher identifies three key elements: the desperate condition of the sinner as an outcast ready to perish, the powerful and inviting sound of the gospel trumpet that calls them home, and the ultimate goal of worshiping God in Jerusalem. Emphasizing the irresistible nature of divine grace, the message urges listeners to respond to this rallying cry with faith and repentance. The tone is both convicting regarding human sinfulness and comforting in the promise of redemption through Jesus Christ. Finally, the sermon highlights the church's duty to proclaim this good news until all the elect are gathered.

  • Practical Cases of Conscience - Preface
It would be matter of regret, if the prejudice now entertained against a field of theological discussion cultivated to such an extent by divines of former generations, should prevent any reader from perusing the Discourses of our author which follow. Owen's was not the mind on any subject to be lost in obscure mysticism and refined subtilties, and to disport itself in a species of moral gymnastics, from which no overt and positive advantage could accrue to himself or to his hearers. These Discourses deal with momentous questions of religious experience, and are replete with suggestions and advices, which will be prized in proportion as the religion of the heart prevails, and so long as Christianity is not buried in formalism.

  • Through His Blood.
"Open your heart to the message that the blood can deliver you, yes, even you, at this moment. Only believe it...If you come as a guilty, lost sinner, longing for pardon...the blood which has already made a perfect atonement covers your sin and restores you immediately to the favor and love of God" - Andrew Murray 1828-1917

  • Unceasing Anguish for the Lost
How do you respond when someone is difficult to love? What happens when the person who opposes you, insults you, or even mistreats you is someone you are called to love? Is your instinct to distance yourself, write them off, or even rejoice when they fail? In Romans 9, Paul reveals something astonishing: he carries "great sorrow and unceasing anguish" for his fellow Jews—the very people who had rejected his message, persecuted him, and sought to harm him. Yet Paul's response is not hatred, bitterness, or revenge. His transformed heart grieves for those who oppose him because he understands their condition—and he remembers that he once stood where they stand. This sermon explores what the gospel does to our hearts toward difficult people. Paul's story challenges us to consider whether the mercy we have received from Christ is shaping the way we view those who are hardest to love. Could God use even the painful experiences of our past to make us more compassionate toward others?

  • Christ's Compassion
The sermon uses the biblical account of a leper seeking healing to illustrate Christ's profound compassion for those enslaved by sin and addiction. It emphasizes that just as Jesus touched the untouchable leper, believers are called to extend similar compassionate outreach to the broken world around them. The message highlights the immediate and complete cleansing provided through faith in Christ, contrasting human inability under the law with divine grace. By examining the leper's humility and Jesus' sovereign response, the text urges the church to embody Christ's character in their mission to reach the lost. Ultimately, it challenges listeners to surrender their lives to become instruments of hope and salvation for others.

  • Submitting in Love
This sermon explores the fifth commandment, expanding its scope beyond parental relationships to encompass all lawful earthly authorities. The preacher argues that true biblical submission requires a heart subdued to Christ, as rebellion against lawful human authority ultimately reflects a rejection of God's sovereignty. By examining scriptural examples from Exodus and 1 Peter, the message emphasizes that honoring leaders is an act of faith and love toward God, mirroring the perfect submission of Jesus Christ. The central theme urges believers to display a heart ruled by grace rather than rebellious lust, thereby witnessing to the world through peaceful and obedient conduct.
