In 1 John 1:4 John tells us the PURPOSE of his writing the book - "That your joy may be full". In chapter five and verse thirteen he tells us that we can have peace in our salvation when he tells us, "Ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life". From 1:4 to the end of the book on chapter five, John tells us how we can have peace and fullness of Joy. It may be summarized this way, "The ABUNDANCE of your JOY (1:4) is directly correlated with the ASSURANCE of your JUSTIFICATION (5:13)."

  • Guard The Deposit of Truth: Part 3

He outlines practical strategies for preserving this faith, including rejecting profane myths, rebuking false teachers, and passing doctrine to faithful generations. The central argument asserts that human effort is insufficient without divine empowerment, highlighting grace as essential for spiritual warfare and perseverance. The message demonstrates that every aspect of the Christian life, from justification to glorification, relies entirely on God's amazing grace.

  • Jesus and Justification
God gave Abraham promise after promise, and Abraham and Sarah believed that He Himself would fulfill them. But it was not just written for Abraham's sake that faith is imputed as righteousness; it was written for us also. This passage contains the two great truths of the Gospel. 1) Jesus died as a sacrifice for our sins. Our lives were redeemed by His blood. His atoning death was the manifestation of the Father's love for us. 2) Jesus was raised again for our justification. This was the proof that His sacrifice was accepted by the Father; and because of His righteousness, we can stand justified before God. Do you believe that Jesus was put to death for your offenses, and that He rose again and still lives, and that the righteousness you desparately need can only be found in Him? Do you believe this? If so, then it is accounted to you for righteousness – the same as it was for Abraham!

  • The Righteousness of God Revealed in the Gospel
In this episode of Anchored in the Word with Dave, Dave Jenkins explains Romans 1:16–17 and the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel. Paul teaches that the gospel is the power of God for salvation because it reveals how sinners are made right with a holy God through Jesus Christ alone. Dave explains the meaning of the righteousness of God, justification by faith alone, the importance of Habakkuk 2:4, and why this doctrine became central to the Protestant Reformation. This episode reminds Christians to rest in Christ rather than their own performance, preach the gospel to themselves daily, and live boldly and unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. • Romans 56 Strong & Weak in Faith
The sermon explores the concept of Christian freedom regarding non-moral issues, specifically dietary choices and the observance of special days. It emphasizes that believers should accept one another without judgment, recognizing that God has accepted both those with strong faith and those with weak faith. The preacher distinguishes between moral issues, which require church discipline, and matters of conscience, where individuals must be fully convinced in their own minds. Unity within the diverse body of Christ is preserved by refraining from criticizing others on these non-moral matters. Ultimately, every believer will stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account for their actions, serving as a sobering reminder to focus on pleasing God rather than judging fellow servants.
